Re: Calypso+Kit+Astoria
It didn't escape her notice that Callie had gone silent, but Kit kept up a stream of chatter that she was grateful for, as it gave her something other than Callie to focus on. And, the fact was, she really enjoyed his company, and she wished that he'd approached her on his own and that they were having this walk one on one. She wished that things could be different, that she hadn't gone so very stupid and broken all her carefully cultivated rules, that she and Callie were still just friends, that things could be simple again.
Her heart was tight in her chest, emotions coiling beneath the surface, though she kept her expression carefully neutral. A lifetime of hiding herself made it all too easy to do now, and that killed her a bit, too. She couldn't remember the last time she had fallen into such an easy and pleasant groove with someone, and she had already come to treasure him. She didn't want this night to destroy this new friendship she'd been building with him the past few weeks.
"What are you doing, Callie?" she asked in a low voice once Kit had excused himself, though he still wasn't far enough away for her to feel comfortable speaking freely.
