Re: Calypso+Kit+Astoria
Despite not hesitating to accept the personal invitation to the party, Astoria had spent the week fretting about going, about seeing Callie again, about what she would wear, about how they would act and if anyone would be able to tell she and Callie had been... intimate. And then she'd told herself she was overthinking things again.
When Saturday finally came around, she tried on at least twenty dresses before forcing herself to choose one that was slightly out of her comfort zone but not so much that she would be overly uncomfortable. She loved the colors in it and felt like she was wearing a piece of art. She paired the dress with multi-colored jewelry and teal heeled sandals and then charmed her hair up in a lovely braided bun. Feeling just a bit daring, she used bold, bright colors on her eyes and applied a neutral gloss to her lips before finally deciding she was ready to go.
She knew she was a little late because when she arrived the party already had a decent crowd, but she slipped in and glanced around, wondering if she would be able to avoid having any sort of serious conversation with Callie tonight, but also curious to see what she looked like tonight. It didn't take long to spot Callie in the crowd, looking absolutely stunning in that dress. Her breath caught in her throat, and then she stopped breathing entirely for a long moment when Callie threw her arms around Kit and kissed him.
"Oh," she finally breathed out, feeling a sheen of moisture filling her eyes. No. She was absolutely not going to cry. But perhaps it explained a lot. Kit had been so nice and gentlemanly with her - she'd had no idea it was because he had something going with Callie! And how silly she felt now for worrying that things would be complicated with Callie. Clearly it had been a one-time thing, a result of Callie's failing relationship and desire to act out. Oh, how stupid she felt.
Astoria turned and looked for wherever the bar would be set up. She felt rather desperately that she needed alcohol just then.
