"My friend Teddy." A beat of a pause. "My former friend Teddy. I don't think his explanation was good enough, so I don't think I'll be forgiving him anytime soon." Still a bit remote there. Detached. Getting closer, but not quite there yet. She frowned faintly, pushing back wisps of hair that had come out of the style she'd put it in. "I don't think so? Except let me become human again before I go home? I don't want to worry Ewan." Even like this she didn't want to worry Ewan.
The hug, as always, startled her, but after a moment she just closed her eyes and leaned into Luna. She was just so tired all the sudden. And a bit scared at the bottom of it all, that she'd be this remote, distant person to her children, or worse than that. She wanted, desperately, to know she'd be a good mother.
Luna's words were perhaps the jolt needed to reconnect with the rest of herself, and she pulled back a little, alarmed. She'd not gone to Azkaban for Greyback's death, as no one had ever come forward to claim they'd seen her do it, and she'd never once admitted to it in all her time in questioning or therapy or anything. "How... I mean, how does that make me a good person? I murdered the bastard in cold blood." She looked a bit confused but also somehow more herself. Greyback had been hurt but not dead. Knowing the capacity of werewolves to heal, and knowing how much harm he'd done, to her family, to her friends, to people she didn't even know, even in the crazy place she'd gone in her head that day... she remembered seeing him, and she remembered that moment of lucidity perfectly. She remembered checking to see if he was alive, and when he was, she remembered taking out the knife she carried, tipping back his head, and slitting his throat. She remembered waiting there, watching, making sure nothing healed, as she knelt in the growing pool of blood.
She'd said some things too. About her family. About why she was putting him down permanently. Above even Voldemort, Greyback had been evil, and it had nothing to do with being a werewolf.
