As Blaise explained more, Astoria couldn't help but get angrier and more frustrated for him. Clearly Kermit had been upset and having issues and doubts, so why would he have brushed it off and told Blaise he understood instead of opening up to him about it all? It seemed like it could have mitigated so much of the hurt and anger in her best mate.
"I know you would have, because that's how you are. You don't beat around the bush when it comes to what -or who- you want in your life," she pointed out. Oh, Blaise could certainly play the long, subtle game when the situation called for it, but when it came to what he wanted? She'd always known him to get it, to make it his. Just look at what he'd done with the Daily Prophet! And it was no different in his personal life, as well. "It is a big step, and there's no reason you should have felt pressured to take it." If Kermit had felt like not making it official was putting a wedge between them, then he should have bloody said so!
Although it wasn't a common instinct for her, she found herself laying down on the blanket next to him and gently folding herself against his side, draping an arm over his bare chest without any bother. "Well, I know it's not the same at all, but you know you've always got me," she pointed out in a tone that lacked arrogance but still pushed the point that she did think having her in his life should trump not having Kermit anymore.
