He'd ended up skiving off work early because he'd already traumatised a few reporters with his black mood today. Though he'd notably reined himself in when it came to his brilliant new assistant, pretty much everyone else was fair game if they decided to say something stupid, and his stupidity threshold was much lower than normal.
So he'd arrived early and easily transformed, welcoming the slightly more simplistic view on life he had when in animal form. Oh, he still had his mind, but things weren't nearly so chaotic or disturbing when you were like this. It made coping with intense emotions much easier than normal, and it was one of his key safety valves these days when it came to stress.
Besides, he was allowed to be absurd, silly, demanding, cuddly, when he was like this.
He'd found a convenient tree to climb and stretched out on a limb while he waited. Patience was also even easier like this. They had a meeting spot, and he heard when she arrived, came out of the very light doze he'd fallen into.
He didn't watch her but the area around which she transformed. Protecting without her knowing.
And now... stalking. It was a game. He'd never hurt her but he eased slowly forward, intent on stalking her now that she was a fox. He was the dappled color of the afternoon shadows, even here in this forest, and as he slowly moved, only the tip of his tail twitched on occasion.
