Well. Septimus hadn’t been expecting that. Not really. For all the words they’d exchanged, the pair of them, for the time they’d spent together, he’d seen absolutely no sign that Terry had even the slightest hint of attraction towards him beyond that initial admission he’d made under the influence in Tim’s office. And since then, Tim had been feeling insecure, had been thinking rather a lot on the fact that he’d yet to have any kind of partner and that he was definitely getting on a bit if his family’s track record of married at a very young age was anything to go on. Not that he wanted to get married because if he did get married to meet their approval, it would obviously have to be a girl so that he could carry on the bloodline, but that wasn’t it. His problem just lately was that he’d yet to even have his first boyfriend. The first time with Charlie had brought that little failing of his to the forefront of his mind, but he’d not shared it with anyone. And Terry not seeming to like him after all, even after Tim had mentioned without meaning to that it was all fine in his eyes, well, it had been a bit more of a blow than he’d honestly thought of it to be.
He hadn’t expected Terry to pull him over and to kiss him as though he mattered. As though he were something to want. Someone to want. Tim’s eyes closed a moment, and then the kiss was over almost as soon as it had begun and it hadn’t been nearly enough and for some silly reason, Terry had broken it to speak with him. He wasn’t sure what he was saying, honestly, and he wasn’t sure that it mattered terribly much either.
A hand cupped the back of Terry’s neck and pulled him close into a second kiss, this one fierce and filled with the frustration that Tim had been feeling with himself lately, with the fact that he’d hoped even quietly that someone out there might want anything to do with him, especially someone like Terry. It was little surprise then, when he had Terry pinned again, because he might have been short, might have been compact, but he certainly had muscles on his side.
