RP: This couldn't possibly go poorly! Who: Nora, Alec, & Alec's wonderful NPC'd parents When: March 21st, 2009 (evening) Where: The Leaky Cauldron What: A most unfortunate run-in occurs. Alec is extremely unhappy. Warnings: Language, maybe?
He'd decided to take Nora out just because tonight-- prior to their going out, he'd gotten so used to going to the Leaky Cauldron after work to unwind that he'd found himself missing his usual pint from there. The food was excellent, but the ale so often was even better, so even if he now had an additional plus-one that he hadn't had prior to the New Year, her addition was hardly an unwelcome one, Alec looking almost suspiciously happy as he sipped at his glass.
Things were going astonishingly well with Roger, his relationship couldn't have been better, his practice was doing well, and he happened to have an itinerary presently burning a hole in his pocket-- or so it felt, at any rate. He still intended to surprise her, which meant keeping this secret for at least a few days longer. And as antsy as he was feeling, as a therapist he knew how to keep a secret, even if he was struggling to keep the smile off his face as he reached across the table to take her hand.
He looked as if he was about to say something when someone interrupted, clearing their throat from just behind him.
"... well! What have we here! What a pleasant surprise!"
It wasn't.
Almost immediately, the smile seemed to melt off his face, Alec stiffening in his seat as he promptly withdrew his hand. For fuck's sake, this wasn't for their eyes.
"What do you want, mother." More statement than question.
"Why, to have dinner with my son and his... girlfriend? Is that right? It's been so long, and you never do write..."
"Yes, well, you haven't seemed to have gotten the message yet, so I evidently just have to keep ignoring you until it sinks in."
Alec had to resist the urge to growl as his mother laughed at his vitriol, seating herself at their table, his father taking the spot opposite her.
"This is a private outing-- for fuck's sake, do neither of you have any manners?!"
"Language, Alec!"
"You'll have to excuse our son, dear," his father seemed to have turned his attention to Nora. "He never did learn any manner of decorum... we haven't even been properly introduced. Well, Alec?"
He looked a little bit as though he might spontaneously combust any moment now.
