RP: Genie in a Bottle... er.. Lamp
Who: Rose and Lance, Aloysius eventually
When: 13. March 2009 – around noon
Where: Library
What: Rose bought a lamp and she needs Lance’s help
Warnings: TBD, potentially language

Rose was bored. Bored bored bored. It had been ages since she had been on a mission, and it hadn’t escaped her that other teams had been sent off, granted, though, with less frequency too. There really was only so much she could do, before she would be considered either a burgeoning cat lady or a daytime patron of V-Bar.

What she needed, was a make-over, or maybe just a new leather jacket. Or a used one. Or a pair of boots! Yes, boots would be good for anything. Ooh! It had been a long time since she had been on a mission, which meant it had been a long time since she had bought a ring for herself. With a grin, she called Ant, and he appeared to immediately read her mind, when he took off and came back with his leash. “Oh yeah,” she nodded, “we’re going shopping you and I.”

Camden Market was… well, it wasn’t as crowded as it sometimes were, but it was fairly buzzing, and Rose was enjoying everything she saw. She was flipping through a row of jackets, when Ant began tugging on his leash. “Grr,” she growled at him, a low-key warning that he was close to being out of bounds. Another tug, and Rose growled a little louder, which had him sit down instantly and look up at him. His tail was thumping against the ground as he did his best to remain sitting, though soon a small whine escaped him, and he kept looking behind him.

“What?” Rose asked him when she noticed how his attention was drawn away from where they were, and instantly Ant was back on his feet. Curious as to what could have caught her wriggle’s attention, Rose decided to go with him. She watched as he sniffed their air, then the ground, then more or less walk sideways until they ended up at a stall filled with all kinds of decorative goods. Vases, bottles, lamps, candlesticks, doilies, anything, though Ant seemed to have eyes only for one of the lamps. It wasn’t even a particularly impressive lamp, not that it was dull either, it just… was.

Ant nudged it with his nose, and with a small whine retreated and sat down, pressing against Rose’s hip, making her take a half-step to keep him from pushing her over. “No touching!” she scolded him. It was the one thing she had always been firm about. Ant could sense magic objects, she had taught him that, though she really wished he could be better about the not touching part.

Gently, her wand at the ready in her sleeve, she picked up the lamp, surprised to find it warm to the touch considering the chill in the air. It didn’t strike her as cursed, per se, but there was definitely magic in it. She had read about lamps, had laughed about the legends and myths and the campfire stories that had been told at various digs, but what if..?

“How much?” she asked the vendor, knowing that even if this wasn’t what she thought it might be, it was still a Charmed object, and it had no business being in a Muggle market like this. She didn’t bother haggling with the vendor, simply paid him the asked price, and then hurried off with Ant. No sooner were they out of sight behind one of the buildings in the street, than she Apparated directly to the Library. If this was one of those lamps, there was no way she was doing anything to it while alone.

“Lance!?” she bellowed the moment she stepped inside.
