RP: Late night musings
Who: Cho (open to Fin) and their little one
When: 1am, Thursday 1/26/09
Where: The Quigley home
What: Cho has a terrible leg cramp in the middle of the night.
Warnings: Pregnant lady musings
Cho had been told that the leg cramps would get worse. She'd made the mistake of wearing heels (small ones!) at work today and when she'd gone to bed (early, because even after vacation, it was far too easy to just get totally exhausted these days!), her legs were already sore. She figured this would happen, but hoped maybe she could just sleep through it.
But then, just a couple of hours later, she was awake, quietly slipping out of bed and slowly making her way down to the kitchen. She poured a large glass of water for herself - no ice, she didn't like ice this week - and accio'd a banana, hoping the potassium would help soften the cramp that had taken over her left thigh. Sipping the water between bites of banana, she took her time, enjoying the still and calm of the house. The kitchen had a great view, even late at night, and she let herself just be in the quiet.
She'd be lying if she said she hadn't been worried about Roger. But she'd been honest when she'd confessed to Alec that she simply couldn't let it dominate her life right now. She had a baby to worry about - a little boy or girl who might have Finbar's eyes and her dark hair and would obviously be a Ravenclaw quidditch legend at Hogwarts.
Cho let herself daydream for a moment in the dark of the kitchen, just the moonlight illuminating the counter she sat at. They still had to finish the nursery. They'd chosen Ravenclaw blue and bronze for it, soft tones of both, and it would match the baby book she'd bought Fin for Christmas. Next Christmas, they'd be buying baby gifts, and maybe there would be a puppy or a Kneazle under the Christmas tree in a big red bow. Will we give them a little brother or sister? She smiled at the thought and stood painfully to toss the banana rind, taking a moment to stretch. Truthfully, she already felt a bit better, but she still had half a glass of water and figured it was better to finish it and pee before trying to get back into bed without waking her husband. Cho made jokes about essentially having a 5 pound bowling ball sitting on her bladder, but really, just thinking about a full glass of water at 1am was nearly enough to make her need to pee, let alone actually drinking it. Of course, if she didn't drink it, she'd be waking up dehydrated in the next two hours, no question.
And so she took her time, sipping her water, and letting herself brainstorm a bit more about the nursery and what the coming year would bring.
