This time it was Eleanor’s turn to laugh. “Of course, it wouldn’t be,” she chuckled, her fingers once again going to the glasses that weren’t there. Was this flirting? Was that what she was doing? Damn, but she hated how Charlotte had made her think about every little thing. It used to be so easy. Well, it still was. This playfulness with Mr. Shingleton was easy, and comfortable, but she didn’t need those extra thoughts and considerations.
“I wouldn’t mind your company on that beach,” she told him with a soft smile. After all, he was part of her life on Cayo Espanto, he was the reason she was there, and she did like his company, even outside of work.
As the countdown started, she fell quiet, pensive. She looked down, she’d heard his question, and she was considering it. This wasn’t a decision she should take lightly, after all. Then again, maybe she should? Raising her chin she looked up at him before she blinked slowly. “I wouldn’t mind that either.”
