Re: Eleanor & Gaspard & Open
“Ah, nothing to apologise for,” Eleanor assured him, even as Mr. Shingleton was being the perfectly charming gentleman to help her out. “My mind had just wandered a bit,” like half a world to be more specific, “and I may have thought I was doing something wrong.” Again.
She looked over to where Cho and Finbar were standing. So entirely put on display for the world to see, and yet they didn’t seem to have eyes for anyone or anything but each other. It made her smile, and once again yearn for what they had. Not the wealth or the fame or the long family history, but the love and the togetherness. “Charlotte…” Eleanor chuckled and looked down into her champagne flute, though she did playfully nudge back against Mr. Gaspard. “…can wear a yellow dress without looking washed out,” she said diplomatically, trying to go with the most positive things she could so as not to speak badly about her sister. “She deserves nothing less than perfect, nor does she expect it, and that goes for attention, too.” She looked up at Mr. Shingleton with a wry smile. “She’s making me think that next time we’re invited to something like this, I’ll either pay someone to pretend he’s my fiancé or put you in a position where you have to have me working overtime.”
