The Game: Welcome to the non-canon world of Marauders Era rp. Here, we accept original characters, major shifts in the plot, and other such things, so long as 1. if your character is canon, you do not change their personality or shift too much from who they are (let your characters flow be natural and real--no hand of the author visible, please), 2. You do not create a god character (all powerful).
This means that if your character is light in the books, they can be seduced to the dark (if it fits their character or they’re given proper motivation), or vice versa. This also means things can happen, such as Gellert Grindelwald escaping and going to Albus for help, even becoming a teacher (Dumbledore was always so trusting).
The premises of the game is around the first Great War. It explores the characters, and the times. It starts in 1976, during the Marauders 5th year. If your character was not in school at this time (already graduated) and you would like to change that, please speak with a mod first and we’ll see if we can work it out. This isn’t about canon, this is about creating a killer world, with active members, and lots of fun.
Journals: Journals are handed out at the beginning of each year. They’re used to communicate with other students, and also to communicate public announcements from staff. Journal entries can be titled as posted as followed:
To limit a journal to only certain people, write {Private to all but:} ex: For Marauders, this can be, {Private to all but Marauders}.
Other groups include: Teachers Admin Staff (Headmaster, Assistant Headmaster, Medic, Filch, Owlery, caretaker, etc.) All Hogwarts Staff All Students A specific year of students (years 1-7) A specific house (Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw) All Prefects Headboy and Girl ETC.
Only teachers can send an announcement to all teachers, staff, students, students of a specific year, or students of a specific house.
Students can send announcements/create a privacy setting for only students of their own house to see it.
Announcements will cause the page to light up until it is read.
Commenting is permitted on entries, and unless otherwise stated, the comment is viewable to all.
By default, entries are visible to all.
Unlike most journals on these sites, anything stricken through does run the risk of being seen. Just like sometimes we haphazard scribble things out and they can still be made out, so is the same for the thing we strike out. Unless you follow a strike out with a quick note (completely scribbled) or (blacked out), people may be able to decipher it. If you’re “deciphering” something, you may not be able to read all letters, or only the hint of name. If someone states that it’s completely blocked out, then it’s blocked out, and it can’t be read.
