She looked at the flower and smiled when she took it. "Thank you. It's been centuries since anyone gave me a flower just because, and in one of my favourite colours," she inhaled the earthy scent of the carnation.
"Let me set this in water, grab my purse, and then I look forward to your teaching me all about Chinese food." Isabel stepped back and invited him into the room with a gesture. "This shouldn't take but a minute."
