Watching him play the piano, Katie couldn’t help but wish she’d had a better attention span. She’d gone through the basic lessons of playing piano, but she hadn’t been patient enough to get good. It wasn’t often she thought about how that was a shame.
When the music began to slow, she let her voice ease with it. “Paradise / paradise.” She let Michael finish on the piano; watching all the while. She took a deep breath when the song came to a close. Katie was suddenly and uncharacteristically quiet—but still smiling none the less.
“Well, well,” she finally broke the silence, tucking some hair behind her ear. Her face heated up again—was she actually blushing?—and she playfully jabbed him with her elbow. “That was awesome, Michael.”
