Everything he did today was against Nate's better judgement. Yes, he was a good person, but did he really want to help these idiots out? Not particularly. They needed to learn what it took to survive in this society. Then a kid was kidnapped and that really ended up being the last straw. While Nate couldn't stand stupidity in adults, taking their kids was a step too far. They were innocents, and Nate knew just how Remus must have felt. It wasn't the exact same, but the circumstances were similar to his own situation, and he felt the need to reach out. Besides, out of all of them, this bloke seemed like he'd be the smartest.
He had purposefully picked a location where there would be a few people. Most of them bums who couldn't or wouldn't work. They lived on the street and paid no mind to anyone in their territory unless they wore an official uniform of some kind. Nate blended in. Not exactly, but well enough not to draw suspicion. He threw on a pair of jeans, plaid shirt and jacket and waited. He didn't know what this bloke looked like, but he had a feeling he would show up looking bewildered. And there was a difference between fake confusion and real confusion. He'd learned to tell the difference. He wasn't walking into a government trap.
He leaned back against the wall, near a local he'd talked to a few times before, just keeping a close eye out for anyone who didn't look like he belonged.
