Teddy poked idly at the counter, trying to figure out if it was made of a substance he recognized. It was a dingy, disappointing alien society, he had to agree. He would have thought that aliens would be eating from inflatable pills or squishy tubes, not out of pots and pans like humans did. Nothing quite made sense. Normally, that was something Teddy excelled in, but this was different. This wasn't a fake pirate ship in his back garden or a strange light in the sky needing explaining. Everything here felt a little too sensible while completely non-sensible.
He thought about it for a moment, furrowing his brow. Then he thought of something. "The lady-- the alien who greeted me when I showed up, she gave me a book. I didn't bother to check it. Maybe it has some answers in it?" He didn't know why he hadn't thought of it before. Probably because it would have been the logical thing to do and Teddy usually left the logical thing as a last resort.
