That was a barrage of questions Teddy really didn't want to answer. He kept looking at the sink, not wanting to turn and face his mother and fib straight to her face. "Well, uh..." Think, Teddy, think! he ordered himself. He was a Ravenclaw, his brain should be able to come up with something.
He turned around, but kept his eyes directed just above his mother's shoulder. He'd read somewhere that when lying one should always maintain eye contact, but that was as close as he was going to get.
"You and dad are... elsewhere." Vague. He shrugged. "And grams made the choice on Little Bear because... we live with her." We here meaning Little Bear and Teddy. Or it was a lie, which Teddy hoped it wasn't. "You know, just stuff." He tried to smile, but it came out as a grimace.
