RATING: LOW
Today had not been a good day for Susan Lupin. She couldn't consider it her worst day ever, but it definitely was the worst her brain had ever been working. Susan hadn't been assigned a job yet, so most of her time was spent playing around with numbers and formulas. She enjoyed that; Susan lived for theorizing and designing new products. Her first few hours awake were spent happily doodling numbers and balancing equations. She pondered about what had brought them there, but wasn't too concerned. It happened, she didn't need an explanation why, she needed to continue moving forwards.
Not long after, Susan started thinking about the little girl she saw yesterday. She had run the DNA last night after she got home, and found the diagnosis to be tuberculosis. It was slightly unbelievable, but Susan didn't doubt her own skills. The girl must either be very poor, from very long ago, or both. Susan hadn't even heard of an active case of TB in years. It simply didn't happen anymore. She decided to go shopping and try and find the appropriate antibiotics. That turned out to be absolutely horrible. The shop keepers looked at her like she had four heads. They'd never heard of rifampin, isoniazid, pyrazinamide, or ethambutol. This started worry in Susan's heart; she needed to help the little girl, but would she be able to properly transfigure the medications? The apothecary wasn't any better, they didn't carry the right kind of potion to treat TB, and Susan wasn't going to be able to make it in one day.
After hitting all the pharmacy stores, Susan went to have lunch. Her sandwich had a hair in it, but Susan decided to pull it out and overlook it. Gross, but it happened. What was troubling Susan was the fact she couldn't remember the chemistry workups of any of the antibiotics needed. She knew them, why was she forgetting? It wasn't long before the guilt piled on Susan and she felt completely responsible for the impending death of Katya. As soon as Susan left the bistro, she felt the guilt turn into extreme sadness. This poor girl was going to die. The only place Susan wanted to be was her pirate ship. She knew her parents were working on building one, so she went there.
Between her tears, Susan saw her parents in child-shaped bodies. She took a deep breath and tried to wipe away the truth, but her eyes were still moist and red. "Mum, dad," Susan choked out.
