Fate?
Who: Tanya and Marcus
Where: The Liberace Museum
When: June 1st, Afternoon
Tanya wasn't sure what she was doing at the Liberace Museum. It was far too much glitz, even for a show like she liked to do, but it was fun for a lark, and Sundays happened to be her day off from the casino. So, what better way to spend the day than wasting it away in a museum dedicated to what had probably been the gayest man alive? She could only HOPE that she got as famous as he did. She had the show for it. She just needed to get at a huge place like the Rio or something.
Marcus, in the meantime, was a little aggravated being here. He'd just gotten off-duty, and really wanted to head to the bar, grab a quick drink, then get home and have a much-needed nap. But no... the Chief had asked him to stop by the museum on the way home to check out a lead on a series of thefts going on in the area. So he'd talked to the curator (and wasn't THAT an interesting talk), and now was on his way back to his car. Really, this place was kind of creepy. Looking more like he was going to a biker rally than getting off police duty (his jeans, leather jacket, and white t-shirt probably didn't help), he was in such a hurry to get out that he almost walked right into poor Tanya.
Tanya managed to step out of the way at the last minute, thus deflecting most of the blow, but they still managed to knock shoulders, which still sent Tanya flying to the ground.
"Shit..." He muttered, reaching down to offer the girl a hand. "Sorry about that, miss. I guess I was in too big a hu..." he cut himself off when their eyes met. Holy crap, if she wasn't about the most beautiful thing he'd ever laid eyes on.
"It's alright," she said, looking up to take the offered hand. She stopped and starred at him for a second as well, though. Even through all the biker regalia, he had a very striking look to him that she liked.
"I'm... um... Marcus. You alright?" He tried regaining his composure, his eyes locked on hers. It was a strange feeling like he'd known her for years, even though he'd only just met her moments earlier.
"Yeah, I'm fine," she said, letting him finally help her off the ground. "I'm Tanya, by the way."
"Nice to inadvertently run you over." He said with a lazy grin, rolling his eyes. "Although as far as accidents go, I can think of ones I've regretted far more."
She smiled at him. "I've had more than a few that I regret far more than this myself," she admitted. "So, Marcus, what brings you to the Liberace museum?"
"Work... I'm a cop... had to check a few things about a case we're working on. Don't ask." He said, laughing as he shook his head. "And you? You don't strike me as a hardcore Liberace fan."
"Not so much," she admitted with a laugh. "It's my day off, actually. I've lived here for a while, but I've never been, so I figured today was as good a day as any."
"Day off, huh? From what exactly?" Was he trying to find out more about the girl? So what, huh???
"I'm actually the stage magician at the Lucky Charm Casino," she told him. One thing she did love was her job, after all.
"You're a magician? That's... so completely NOT what I was expecting." He admitted with a laugh, shrugging. Hey, it might cost him points, but he didn't lie. "I was expecting model, maybe showgirl..."
She shook her head with a laugh. "No, I love magic. Got nothing against showgirls, some people think of me as kind of a glorified one, doing tricks instead of dancing around, but I like my job. You should drop by sometime."
"You know, I just might have to." He grinned, looking her over. "For the record? My nephew has some comic books with a female magician called Zatanna. Look her up. Dress like her and no red-blooded male alive will miss a show."
Tanya smiled. "Oh, I bet," she said. "I dress pretty well, but I'd like to think that it's my show that keeps people coming back, not necessarily my assets."
"Gotta admit. Assets like those? I'd be giving any show the lesser bit of my attention. no offense." Ok, by this point? He was teasing AND being fairly honest.
That just made her laugh. "Oh, I bet," she said to him. "Yeah, I can understand that. Still, come for a peak at the assets, enjoy the rest of the show, too."
"Maybe I will..." He said, with that tone that made it obvious 'maybe' meant 'without a doubt'. "Any chance when it's over... I could get you to help me make a few drinks disappear?"
She laughed at his joke. "I'm sure we can arrange something like that," she said to him with a grin.
He caught himself staring into her eyes again, and sighed, rolling his eyes in slight embarrassment. "Sorry. Don't mean to seem so... strange. There's just something about you... I mean that in a good way... there's something about you I can't stop looking at."
"No, it's OK," she said to him, still smiling. "It's not every day that a girl seems to make a boy speechless." She laughed a little. "I'm looking forward to that drink."
"Good..." He said with a wink. "Believe me... you'll see me soon." He took her hand, kissing it like a true gentleman(!) before moving to hold the door for her. "Sorry again for almost running you over."
"Hey, if you hadn't run into me, we wouldn't be meeting for a drink now, would we?" she pointed out to him. "See you soon," she said, heading through the door.
