Too Cute
Who: Willie and Jono
Where: A Steakhouse
When: July 31, Evening
Willie wasn't sure if she had dressed up enough for this date. She just wasn't really the type of girl who put on lots of fancy make up and dresses, since she had always been a tom boy at heart. Still, she had at least *tried* to look a little more like a girl, wearing a black shirt with a halter neckline with a pair of non-holy jeans. That was about as good as it was going to get with her unless it was like, a Prom or something. She walked inside and looked around to see if Jono was already there.
Cutely (or pathetically really, depending on one's point of view) the empath had been there for roughly 45 minutes already, as if afraid that MAYBE she'd accidentally show up early, not see him, and leave. He was in a slightly crumpled suit and tie, suggesting that he REALLY didn't iron much. Luckily he made it work.
Thank god she didn't know that, because she would have felt REALLY bad if she had known that he had been waiting here for so long for her. When she did spot him, she gave him a wave and made her way over. "Hey," she said as she got over there.
"Ah!" He smiled brightly, absently fiddling with his tie in nervousness, "Willie... great to see you, love. You look positively amazing." His tone was chipper and honestly far more pleasant and relaxed than he had sounded in the bar. Sometimes... plugging up his powers long enough to perform drained him BADLY.
"Thanks," she said as she sat down. She had actually agonized for an hour over what shirt to wear, but such was the way of Willamina Ravensdale. Freaking out over what to wear to, well, anything resembling a date. "Everything going OK with you?"
"Just splendid, thanks..." Well duh. How could things be better for him right now? Pretty much the hottest woman that had EVER shown any interest in him had actually shown up for their date (which made it far better already than the last two he went on). "Glad to see you again. I... left our last meeting fairly well thinking about you all night. Which, frankly, makes me almost as horridly laughable as the fact that I can't currently seem to stop talking."
She smiled at him when he started to babble. While she wasn't aware of his even worse luck in the dating world than she did, she still found his babbling awesomely endearing. "Well, if it helps, I've spent a lot of time thinking about you, too."
"Sorry to hear that... perhaps some aspirin would do the trick." He joked, giving a lopsided smirk. Clearly, he was a master of self-deprecating humor. "So... order anything you like. We're going to make tonight special."
Willie laughed. "Oh, I didn't find it so bad," she pointed out. "I actually kind of enjoy thinking about you." Well, she did. She picked up the menu and started to look at it. "Are you familiar with this place at all? I don't want to order something that turns out to not be the cook's specialty."
"I am. I come here quite a bit, actually. Anything from the steak or burger menus are quite... beyond words, in my opinion." He flagged down the waiter, knowing that it would still take a few minutes, due to the business of the restaurant tonight.
Willie nodded. "I think I'll go with a steak, then, actually," she said with a grin. She actually loved steak, but just wanted to be sure that there wasn't anything in particular that she should be getting or something.
"Fantastic. We'll make it two, then. How do you take it?" He asked, as the waiter made his way to their table. "Evenin', friend... I'll have the porterhouse, medium-rare, with the baked potato and the rice. And the lovely lady here shall haaaave..." He motioned to her, allowing her to order for herself.
Willie thought on it for a second. "Actually, that sounds perfect," she said, folding her menu back up. "I'll have the same that he's having." He was the one that knew this place, after all.
After the waiter walked away, he had to ask the question that had been picking away at him since he'd met her. He wasn't down on himself or anything... but he still had this one thought: "So... mind my asking what exactly made you accept my offer for a date? Not that I'm coming down on m'self... but usually? Women that look like you tend to... not exactly look my way."
Willie grinned and shook her head. "Wow, we've got to work on some self confidence for you," she said playfully. "I accepted because you seem like a nice guy. I actually can't believe that women wouldn't accept a date from someone who can sing like you. Looks like their loss was my gain, huh?"
"Looks like." He grinned, nodding to her. "Now I just have to manage to live up t'your expectations, love."
She smiled at him. "I can't wait to see that you do," she told him, "because I really think that you will." She certainly expected him to, after all.
"Then... here's to hoping the future is as exciting for both of us as I hope it is..." He laughed, winking at her with a little grin. He was nervous as hell, but dammit, he was doing a fine job of not showing it.
She grinned back at him. Damn he was adorable. "I'm willing to put money on the fact that it will be," she said. "Not that I got a gambling problem or anything, just that I'm that sure."
