Possible Out
Who: Tabitha and Raine
Where: Avarice II
When: Feb. 6th, Evening
So... as far as cities went? Las Vegas wasn't TOO bad. At least there were a lot of lights, a lot of good clubs, and a great night life. And as far as Raine Nelson was concerned? That was good enough for her. For now, at least. She'd been close to fame, once... back in Sunnydale, CA... and since then? She'd mostly jumped from one semi-decent band to the next, trying to find something, anything, that had the chemistry that World Ablaze had. At least for tonight? The blonde guitarist was chilling at Avarice II, wearing a red designer miniskirt with black stockings and heels, nursing a glass of vodka, eyes surveying the crowd as she enjoyed the thumping beat of the rock music.
Tabitha was relieved that her fake ID was taken tonight. After the day she'd had at the peep show, she really had no interest in fighting with a bartender over the fact that she wanted a goddamn whiskey sour and she wanted it NOW. Right now she was actually nursing her second one, deciding that her mood had improved the slight amount enough that she could leave her corner booth and sit at the bar.
When a Broken Sunrise song came on, the blonde gave a mildly depressed snort and muttered to herself, "Wow. Sometimes? Fate loves to kick you in the head and beat you until you can't forget your own woes..."
Tabitha happened to overhear that, and gave a chuckle herself. "Don't I know it," she said, taking another sip of her drink.
Raine lifted her glass, raising an eyebrow and chuckling. "A toast then? To those of us life loves to kick while we're down?"
Tabitha smiled. "Sure. To the downtrodden," she said, clinking her glass with the other woman's. "So, what's got you so down, other than a song, seemingly."
"That song, well... that COULD have been me." She said, laughing as she KNEW how that sounded. ANYONE could claim 'oh yeah, I used to sorta be in that band' and sound cool...
"That so?" Tabitha asked. Everyone knew who Broken Sunrise was now, especially if they came to this club more than...twice. "Used to be in the band?"
"Sort of. I played lead guitar in the singer's first band. Back in Sunnydale California... we were called World Ablaze. We broke up after his girlfriend went missing, and he kinda... fell apart." Of course, from what she'd seen? Seemed the girl finally turned up again. Awesome.
Tabitha nodded. She personally wondered how many people were out there had missed being in a famous band by 'that' much. "That sucks. And now he's all famous with a new band. Tried to get some magic started yourself?"
"I've been in..." She paused and thought. "Probably 11 bands since then. Not one had even an ounce of chemistry. And I had made a real name for myself in the underground scene, too. You know the girl that plays guitar for them? Lexi Wilson? She admitted that I was one of her favorite guitarists."
"I admittedly tend to focus more on Jack Delany, but that's me." Lexi was cute, but she just preferred long hair on girls. Sue her. "She's good, though. Now you've got me all curious to hear you play sometime."
"Anytime. I have demos, and while I'm in between bands right now, I play for kicks at some of the smaller clubs around here sometimes..." She offered her hand to the redhead and smiled. "Raine. Raine Nelson."
"Tabitha Dunbar," Tabitha said, shaking her hand. "And I'd definitely love to hear you play." Tabitha wasn't a music know-it-all, but she knew what she liked, and she did happen to like Broken Sunrise.
"So what do YOU do? And how's life kicking the crap out of YOU?" Raine asked, leaning against the bar as she sipped her drink.
"I'm a stripper. When is life *not* kicking the crap out of me?" Tabitha pointed out. She didn't even work at one of the high end places, so it wasn't like she was making major money. Plus, she had the day job as the peep show. Obviously she wasn't raking in money as a stripper.
"Wow... really? Wouldn't have guessed that for you. I think of strippers and I think of plastic, busty, fake-looking women. You're too... naturally beautiful for that, if you ask me." Raine observed with an actually sad sigh, as if feeling BAD for that. "What a waste of beauty."
Tabitha smirked. "Sadly, that's the best compliment I've gotten all day," she pointed out. "Thus the 'down and out' part. And I may be beautiful, but I'm utterly talentless...well, in all the legal ways." Can't be a hooker IN Vegas, sadly. You were supposed to go outside city limits for it to be legal.
"One day... I'll find a way to make it. And then I'll hire you to... I dunno... be my roadie, or my assistant, or SOMETHING." Raine laughed, her sweet accent like a chime. "And we'll get out of this together."
Tabitha chuckled, deciding to not mention that, being the bite addict that she was, it was likely that she wouldn't be AROUND by the time she got famous with her luck. No need to be a REAL downer. "Sounds like a dream," she said simply.
"We'll make it out of this stuff, pet. We have to." She said, sighing a little. "Nobody good can be down on their luck forever..."
"Let's definitely hope so then," Tabitha said with a slight sigh. She honestly wasn't sure how much more of this 'down on her luck' stuff she could really take.
