"Thanks," he said to her. He could tell that she probably wasn't going to believe him on first try. People hardly ever did, after all. Might as well jump right into it. "Sunshine, do you believe in magic at all?" he asked her.
She didn't answer right away, thinking about the question. Did she believe in magic? Sunny supposed she did in a way, like she believed in ghosts. She watched those special haunting shows every once in a while on those learning channels that freaked her out, but deep down she was always a bit skeptical. She guessed the same could be said about magic. Sunny didn't really say anything, but she did shrug at his inquiry.
Well, a shrug was better than a no, he supposed. "There's a type of person called a Slayer. A long time ago, she was magically made so that she could fight the things in the darkness: vampires, demons, other evil things of the like. Until recently, there was only one a generation. However, a few years ago, all of the girls who could be a Slayer were made a Slayer. You're one of those girls." He took a deep breath. "What do you think?"
To say that Sunshine was stunned silent would be the Major Understatement Of The Year. The girl blinked back at Aidan a few times as she tried to absorb what had just been said until a brow quirked and she burst out laughing. The flat of her hand came down on the table a couple of times and she pointed at him, "Ok, you really had me there for a second. Ya know, that's a great story. Are you a screen writer?"
Yeah...this was more along the lines of the reaction he had been expecting. "No one would buy this script if I wrote it," he said bluntly. It was really almost TOO fantastical, after all. "I am telling you the truth, but I understand why you wouldn't believe it." He reached into his pocket, fished out his wallet, and pulled out a business card with his number on it, sliding it across the table to her. "If you want proof, feel free to call me and I'll arrange for you to see all the proof you'll need." Vegas was getting more and more demonic activity by the day. It wouldn't be hard to find some for her to see. "And I promise I'm not a psycho," he said, giving her a slight smile. "And I'm also not a part of a hidden camera show." Although this WOULD be a good set up, wouldn't it?
Sunny giggled just before pulling the straw of her drink between her teeth to chew on it, "I don't know, people like some pretty fantastical stories these days." She leaned forward with interest as Aidan slid his business card to her and picked it up. The card read; Aidan Hainsworth with his number below it in that typical business font you saw on business cards. Hm, an equally hot name to go with an equally hot guy. Sunny stuck the card in her bra.
Doubt was clearly written on her face as she sucked down more of her drink right before saying, "Yeah right. I really don't think I'll be calling ya back, buddy." She would've said that maybe he needed to go back to whatever mental institution he'd wandered away from, but she was pretty sure that psycho's didn't hand out business cards to people, especially ones they intended on harming.
He knew that, as a Slayer, sooner rather than later, something would come her way. Frankly, he just hoped that she could handle it. He was just the type of person to 'live and let live,' as some say. "If you ever change your mind, feel free to call anytime," he said to her with a slight smile. Luckily, he'd had the server put his drink in a to-go cup. He stood up from the table and took a sip from his drink, slightly amazed that he liked it. "Thanks for the drink recommendation," he said before heading for the door.
