Tring to Gain a Pupil
Who: Tanya and Courtney
Where: Avarice II
When: Sunday Evening, 1/16
Tanya wasn't exactly a fan of the metal music that Avarice II played, but, as a semi-public figure in Vegas, she figured that she should be seen in what had become the biggest club in Vegas in the past year. Wearing a tight black dress and with her hair pinned back, she sat at a table while enjoying a glass of wine. She waved and took pictures with a few people that recognized her, but mainly she was content with hanging out alone tonight. That changed greatly when she felt a magical vibe in the air as soon as a small blond girl walked into the club. She was quite powerful, if feeling...a bit raw in her training. This night certainly got interesting.
Yeeeaaaah. To saw Courtney Kowalski was brimming with raw, untamed energy? Would be a deadly understatement. Nobody really understood just what a potentially lethal loose cannon the girl really was. Her pupils a dark red that thank goodness, most people thought were just a cool set of contacts, she silently padded to the bar in a long, clingy black dress, her hair tied into a long braid that fell down her back, that usual emotionless look on her face.
Tanya, who might actually be one of the few who would realize that a loose cannon magically the girl could be, let her eyes follow the girl as she walked through the club. Many of the regular humans who had some real sense in them seemed to move out of her way as she walked through.
Courtney saw the blonde walking toward her and raised an eyebrow, not entirely blind to how gorgeous she was... but face it: outside of a select few, she didn't really show uch of any kind of emotion.
When Tanya reached her, she gave the girl a slight smile. "My name's Tanya," she said to her. "Mind if we talk for a few minutes?"
Courtney? Didn't even bother introducing herself. Or for that matter, even saying a word. Instead, she merely gestured to the chair across from her, raising an eyebrow. Gee, what a flaming ball of fun, huh?
Tanya actually didn't mind. Apparently she was quite flexible, at least when it came to something of interest to her. She sat down in the chair across from Courtney. "You're quite powerful, aren't you?" Tanya asked simply after she sat down, taking a sip of her wine.
"I am." Courtney said, looking almost bored. "More powerful than you, from what I can tell." She meant no offense by it... Courtney merely tended to be blunt and observant. Truthfully, there weren't MANY witches out there, young or old, with more raw power than Courtney.
"You are," Tanya said. "Although I know more about magic than you do at this stage in your life," she pointed out. She appreciated the fact that the girl was honest. So few teens were these days.
"Yes. I have the power... but you have the experience and wisdom. Touche." She said, sounding not entirely unlike a robot. Really... Courtney could be quite aggravating to talk to at times...
"Do you want to learn to control your power better? Make sure that you don't accidentally hurt those that you care about?" Tanya asked.
"I plan to. My... do-gooder aunt is attempting to teach me to harness my power. As for hurting people... other than a select few, I can't I care if others get hurt." Oh. Wonderful.
"A do-gooder? Sounds like you are thrilled by that concept," Tanya commented with a slight smile. "Wouldn't you like to learn to use your powers for the purposes that you were actually given them for?"
"...and if I feel that making myself able to destroy anyone is my purpose?" Courtney asked with an amused smirk, raising one slender eyebrow...
"Depends on the 'anyone,' I suppose," Tanya said to her. Was Tanya a bad person? Not at all. Her morals were just a little flexible.
"Anyone means... anyone who angers me. Which, admittedly... is most people. Truthfully, my girlfriend and my...." she tried to think of how to describe Meredith... "my friend Meredith... are the only two people I've never thought of maiming. And admittedly... even my girlfriend has pushed my buttons a few times."
Tanya didn't know that her girlfriend pushed her buttons because she thought it was funny, plus she felt that someone needed to challenge Courtney to keep her on her toes. Tanya simply nodded. "As long as you don't maim me and the few I care about, I'm not terribly worried about the rest," she admitted.
"We'll... see." Courtney replied, sounding a little hesitant. Clearly, the girl had enough trust issues that just up and giving that trust to a random stranger? Not gonna happen. "It's going to take effort to get me to trust you enough to allow you to teach me anything."
Tanya nodded. "I understand," she said with a slight smile. "How about we arrange another meeting so that we could get to know each other a little better. Maybe somewhere a little more...conducive to talking?"
"Possibly." She said, smirking a little bit, as if getting a kick out of seeing how badly the other woman wanted to talk to her. "What did you have in mind?"
"I was thinking of something more like a coffee shop," Tanya said to her. "Is that OK with you?"
"I'll make a deal with you. Allow me to bring my girlfriend, and we'll meet somewhere." Truthfully, she just wanted to make sure TWO of them felt the woman was trustworthy. "After all..." she smirked with faux-innocent eyes. "My mother always tells me not to talk to strangers..."
Tanya had to resist snorting when the girl when she tried to faux-innocent eyes. That girl was no innocent. "Fine by me," Tanya said with a confident smile. She just worried that so much potential power would go to waste with simple white magic.
