Figuring Out What's Going on with Dad
Who: Bella and Pat
Where: Pat and Patience's New Home
When: Monday Afternoon, 1/17
Bella had heard that Pat was in the city, and, since he was her father and all, figured that she should go and visit him. The two of them needed to talk, and she wanted to see how he was doing since him and Patience split up. OK, so she definitely needed to call her family more often. But, with her training and the fact that she spent most of her remaining time with Chris, looking for extra time was actually kind of hard. So, she had done a bit of research and checked around, before figuring out that he had rented this place that she was standing in front of now. Taking a deep breath, she walked up and knocked on the door.
Having just put baby Cash down for a nap, Pat pulled a t-shirt on to go with his jeans when he heard the knock. Looking through the peephole, he smiled when he saw who it was, and quickly opened the door. "Hey, Bella... How are you?"
A happy, smiling Pat was not what she expected. This was officially weird. "I'm doing good. You OK?" she asked. "I heard about Patience."
"Yeah. Um... About that." He laughed, nervously, as he gestured for her to come in. "Make yourself comfy."
This was SO weird. "Sure thing," she said, walking inside and sitting down in a chair. "So...what's up?"
"I... I still don't know how to explain this. Want to, umm... just take a peek and see who's napping with Cash in the bedroom?" He asked, looking just a tad confused himself.
Arching an eyebrow at him, she got up and walked into Cash's room, seeing a sleeping Patience with him. "You guys make up?" she asked, not catching the younger features on Patience.
She could be forgiven for that as there was really only two years difference there... But when she asked that, Pat gave a confused laugh. "Not exactly? This is... um... THIS Patience is sort of like you, Ami, and Narcissa..."
"From an alternate time line?" she asked quietly to make sure that she didn't wake anyone up. "That's...goddamn that's weird," she admitted. "Obviously not *that* weird, here. How did she get here?"
"No idea. Is it wrong that I don't care? She's not a demon, she actually still LOVES me... Nothing else really matters." He sighed, running a hand over his head. "And... somehow, I get the feeling THIS is the girl I lost years ago."
She chuckled when he admitted that he didn't care. "It's not wrong. It's really not," she told him. When he said the second part, she kind of shrugged. "As long as you two love each other, that's really what matters, isn't it? So don't worry about the other stuff." She looked Patience and Cash over for a moment. "So, are you guys moving here?"
"I... think so. I need to talk to our nanny... see if she's willing to move. If not, I need to find a new one. This is going to take some adjustment but..." He smiled, looking in at Patience's slumbering form. "She's my girl. I'd die for her."
"I'm sure the nanny wouldn't mind moving up here for the job," Bella said to him. "I wouldn't worry about that too much." She grinned when he said that he'd basically do anything for her. "Good. I get the feeling she'd probably do the same."
"I love you, Bella. Don't ever forget that, ok? I'm always here for you." He laughed then, raising an eyebrow. "And... I liked that demo you gave me. Exactly how serious are you about this guy?" Because while she'd said nothing... Pat knew she wouldn't go championing some band out of nowhere if SOMETHING wasn't going on.
"That obvious, huh?" she asked, running her fingers through her hair. "Um...fairly serious? I mean, we're exclusive and everything, anyway." She wasn't exactly sure how to put it, after all. She kinda feared labels after what happened with Damon.
"Just be careful. Your heart is, well... one thing you got from me, unfortunately. You get hurt easily." He pointed out, sighing.
She nodded. "Yeah, I found that out the hard way," she told him. It had not been a pleasant experience, to say the least. "I plan on being careful from now on."
"Good. I don't want to see my little girl hurt." Yeah. Because she was like SIX YEARS YOUNGER than you, Pat. Sigh.
Well, she was still his daughter, so it was the thought that counted. She reached over and gave him a quick hug. "I don't want to see you getting hurt again, either."
"Somehow... I don't see it ever happening again." He said, sounding at peace for the first time in, well, a lonnnng time.
