Proving that She Really Still *Is* A Kid
Who: Patience and Pat
Where: Their New Penthouse
When: Saturday Afternoon, 1/15
Well. This was a bit... hectic. Pat McConnell knew something had to give. He had a life back in LA, but knew taking a SECOND version of Patience to LA might not be... wise. So for now, he was staying in Vegas a little longer. Luckily, he had the money now to make this easy. He rented a huge penthouse suite at the Hilton, and took a quick trip back to LA to get baby Cash, and give Morgan a few days off. Just until he figured out what the HELL he was going to do. Besides... before he got TOO excited about this, he needed to make sure Patience was comfortable, with, well... having a son she didn't technically have. Or something. Sigh. Anyway... since he'd sent her out to get some new clothes for the day while he made his trip, for now, he sat in the suite, Cash sleeping soundly, as he sat listening to a demo Bella had given him of a band called The Bitter End... which made him laugh when he realized it was Lacey's band. Small world, hm?
Patience was actually continuously staring at Cash. She had made the shopping trip (and thoroughly enjoyed it) for clothing, and now she was feeling better than she had in months. She seemed to have her boyfriend back, and, while she knew that he had a life in LA, she was in no hurry to leave Vegas. The 'other' her was in LA, and Patience semi-worried that the world might explode or something if she actually met the other one. But there was a baby that still shared her DNA. It was...neat, really. She didn't feel maternal to him...but maybe it could be called 'aunternal?' Was that a word? "He's so little and shit..." Patience said as she continued to stare at Cash. Hey, at least she wasn't jealous or anything, right?
"Yep... are you sure you can handle having, well... a son? I mean, I know you technically didn't give birth to him... but he's part of the package now." Yeah, Pat. Give THIS girl a reason to use the word 'package'. Smart.
"I feel kind of auntly or step-motherly to him, more than anything," she admitted. "Then again, he *has* a mother. I don't mind having him around, no. He's still cute." Then Patience had to blow the moment by peaking in Cash's diaper. "And hung like daddy, too!"
"Jesus Christ." Pat muttered, almost face-palming there. What a world, when Demon!Patience was the MATURE one, hm? "I... am so beyond words right now..."
Well, the Human!Patience was still basically a teenager. So there you go. She just laughed at his stunned almost silence. "Still, he's utterly adorable. Hopefully I get to have one of these with you one day. I'd love a little daughter, actually."
"Well... one thing at a time. We're not going to rush anything. All I care about is being with you. Forever." He sighed, thinking to the talk he'd had with Baily. See... that talk? Was done off-camera, because both muns loathe breakup scenes and tend to get FAR too emotional over them. So fucking deal. Anyway... Baily was hurt... but understood. And swore that once some time passed, they could still be friends. Because that's just how the muns roll. Right now... Pat was just focused on trying to make everything feel RIGHT for himself and for Patience. Somehow... if it was possible, he felt THIS one was the one he had lost back in Sunnydale, even over the one Ben had 'resurrected'.
"Oh, I didn't mean right away or anything," Patience said to him. "God...I'd at least like to get a GED first. Trying to already impregnate me with your supersperm." She snorted. "I'm going on the PILL, baby!"
"Please. My sperm is more potent than any silly pill can defend against..." Oh god... maybe this WAS really her. Because the old banter? Was back and better than ever.
"Sperm, shots...there's gotta be something I can defend myself against you with," Patience said with a laugh. "I bet a vasectomy wouldn't even stop you from impregnating women by just looking at them with that hot, sexy man stare."
"I think Iris is the only woman I've spent any real amount of time with who somehow avoided getting pregnant by me. Christ." He laughed, shaking his head as that realization JUST hit him.
"Really? Is she infertile or something?" Patience asked in amazement. "You seem to impregnate almost everyone else...no...wait...there's Gwen, too." She shook her head. "OK, maybe they're just lucky."
"You really should go see her, by the way. Gwen, I mean. If this makes any sense... you seem almost MORE like who she and I lost than the, well... 'other' you." God, these discussions tended to make Pat's head hurt.
"I totally plan to," she said to him with a grin. "Like I'm going to go too long without seeing my Gwen when I actually know where she is." She thought on something for a second. "Can you give her a call and like, explain shit a bit before I just jump in her life. I don't want her thinking I'm the other Patience and getting my ass jumped for what she did to you and Cash, you know?" She grinned. "I'm GLAD I seem more like me, amusingly enough. I'd be worried if I sounded like anyone else, you know?"
"Somehow, that was at once totally confusing, and entirely made sense." He laughed, shaking his head. He was just glad she was only about two years younger than her counterpart. It could have been much worse, right?
Like...she could have been twelve? He wasn't exactly innocent in the first place, you know? Anyways..."This whole thing is confusing but makes total sense, you know?" she pointed out to him.
"Yeah. I get it." Oh god. Then it hit him. He HAD to tell her this part... trying not to laugh, he raised an eyebrow. "Um... you ARE aware you're not the only person who got displaced in time, right?"
Patience sort of tiled her head at him. "And this timeline hasn't like...exploded yet?" she asked. "I mean, if I can come here, so can others...who else is floating around?"
"Well. For one? If I'm right... your own daughter." Her mentioning wanting a daughter made it click: when the OTHER Patience had a child... it was a boy. Meaning somehow, Abbi hadn't been born yet.
"Really?" Patience seemed to think on that for a moment. "Neat," she said finally. She was taking this rather well, wasn't she? "So, where is she?"
"She's... back in LA. When.. 'other you' left, she went back there, to try figuring out what was going on. She's about... as UN-like you as can possibly be." He smirked, shaking his head.
"Well, if she was another me, that would just be boring," Patience said with a laugh. "I gave birth to like, a cheerleader or something, didn't I?" she asked.
"Better. A cheerleader who's an honors student and a VIRGIN." Because while most people would be thankful for that? Pat knew Patience would wonder what was wrong with her.
"Good GOD where did we go wrong raising her?" Patience asked playfully. "Still, if she's happy being that way and ain't just doing it as a way to rebel, then good for her. Fucked up, but good for her."
"She seems nice. Only met her a few times, but... yeah. There's a few others, too. From different realities and times. One is supposedly from me and Gwen. Meaning Gwen didn't get QUITE so lucky in that reality." He teased, referencing Patience's earlier comment.
She cackled. "Oh god, so you DID get her pregnant, just not in this reality?" she asked. "Oh my GAWD you are amazing." She reached over and hugged him. Amazingly, this didn't really bother her at all. She was just too happy to HAVE him for anything to bother her much, though.
"Gwen calls me The Sperminator." He laughed, blushing a little. "I, um... do have another child in this reality. She's mine with Skylar. Name's Bella."
"Patty? How many children DO you have?" she asked. "Is this one just the older version of the baby you have with her?" She knew he had a baby with her named Bella, after all .
"Yeah. She's here in Vegas, actually. The band I was just listening to? She's sort-of-dating the lead singer." Pat couldn't help but laugh at what a sci-fi soap opera his life was becoming.
"God your life is something out of a soap opera," she said, as if reading his mind. "Like, a freaky horror soap opera, but still." It didn't bother her, really, but it HAD to be commented on.
"No... you're not entirely wrong there." He laughed, almost facepalming. "I just... I still can't believe this. You're actually HERE. I still feel like I'm dreaming or something. Ok, except for the fact that I feel like a douche for hurting Baily..."
"Look, it's a bummer that you hurt another girl. It really is," Patience said. "But would you rather lie to her? It's not like you planned to meet me or anything. She'll be fine."
"No, I know that... it just still sucks. She's... been a good friend." And then? Because face it: he and Patience weren't exactly the type to NOT talk about this: "Damn good in bed, too."
"Well...if she's OK with sharing..." Patience teased. "OK, so I kind of doubt it, but I'd totally be OK with doing a little sharing. A little, anyway. Later. Right now I'm hoggy."
"I kind of understand. Right now? So am I." Honestly? Probably the only reason he hadn't mentioned Lacey.
She plopped down in his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Maybe in a month or two I'll be more willing to share. Not right now, though. I just got you back."
"I agree. 100% agreed. Seriously... right now, I cant even think of anyone but you." He said, before asking the question he both dreaded asking... and was excited to. "I know you're... a couple years younger here... but would asking you if you want to move in together already be too forward?"
"Well, I'm legal if that's what you're worried about," Patience pointed out. She knew that he had been cautious about it before, after all. "But yeah I want to move in with you. Just...I'm not sure if I want to leave Vegas, you know? My Gwenners is here, even if I haven't run into her yet. Plus, other!me is in LA, and I'm not sure if the world will blow up or not if I accidentally run into her."
"I could easily move here..." He said, as honestly? He'd move to JUPITER if it meant being with her again. "We're not so far from LA that it would hurt recording or touring with the band... I gotta talk to Cash's nanny... see if she's willing to move. If not, we'll have to get a new one..."
"She'll probably move," Patience said, as if she knew about that. "Thanks for being willing to move here, Patty," she said to him. "Plus, like you said, being a few hours away shouldn't hurt your rock star abilities at all." She laughed.
"Not at all. And like I said. From now on? NOTHING is gonna stop us from being together." Ok, so was he already thinking of the future? Of proposing, of marrying her? Yep... but still... he wasn't about to rush anything.
Fuck, Patience would walk down a Vegas isle TODAY if he so much as asked. She didn't need a big wedding or anything like that. She just wanted Pat.
