New Job Finally Secured
Who: Blake and Max
Where: The Werewolf's Den
When: Wednesday, January 5
With the comic store finally open, Blake, fresh out of school, was puttering around in the Star Wars section, putting more action figures on their respective hooks. It being her final year of school she was overworked, tired and irritable, but being here always put her in a good mood. Dressed in jeans and a plain white t-shirt, with her hair tied back in a haphazard ponytail, she hummed to herself, smiling faintly as she remembered something that Gwen had said earlier.
Gwen had told Max to stop by the store when it officially opened to talk to Blake about actually truly getting hired at this place. She didn't think it would be a huge deal to get hired, but the process had to be gone through just the same. She just hoped that Blake didn't truly desire a background check. The (mostly) former pickpocket couldn't exactly pass one of those.
When she pulled up on her bicycle (her only real way of getting around the city), she walked up to the store front door and opened it, poking her head in. "Can I come in? You open yet?" she asked to Blake.
"Yeah, we're open," Blake called back to her, waving her in. It occurred to her that they should probably advertise the store more, if people weren't sure the place was open. Finally done with the action figures, she stood up and brushed off her knees.
"Hey, I'm a friend of Gwen's that's looking for a job," Max said as she walked further inside. "You know, if you're hiring, of course."
"We do need another set of hands," Blake replied, walking over to her and offering a hand. "'m Blake. Obviously."
Max reached for her hand. "Maxine Tora," she said with a smile. "And I could use a job." A legit job, even.
"Alright. Well, 'friend of Gwen's' at least deserves a trail period. So, you've got one. Dazzle me in the next month and I'll find a way to keep you full time. How does that grab you?"
"Grabs me in an oh so lovely way, actually," Max said with a grin. "When do I get to start then?"
"You can start now, if you want. It's practically closing time but I can show you around. I'll get you to come in 9am tomorrow and Gwen can show you the ropes. Or... tell you really offensive jokes, knowing her." Blake laughed.
"Gwen's already told me plenty of those," Max said with a laugh. "We can do a tour now and I can come in tomorrow for a full day."
"Sweet." Blake gave the thumbs up. "Okay, so. I got a little anal with the design of the store, so it's all done by sections. Obviously, action figures and toys are here." She started moving down. "Then it's graphic novels, arranged by publisher. DC, Marvel, Dark Horse... That door there leads into a storage area... the secondary counter is over here, the door behind it leads to layaway stuff... Am I going too fast?" Blake chuckled.
Max started looking around as Blake pointed out the different sections of the store. "No, this is fine," she said as they walked around. "I'm keeping up."
"Cool. I kinda rattle on sometimes. Okay, so. Standalone comics are there." She pointed before moving them off again. "Here we have anime and foreign films. Behind me is just a bunch of nick-knacks. Bags, beanies... and I know we won't really sell any of the KISS stuff, but I just love that Gene Simmons puts his face on everything. And finally, over here are TV shows and various Sci-Fi movies, as well as books. Mostly they're fantasy, but we've got a few autobiographies in there as well. I can't wait for the Bruce Campbell one. That should be hilarious. And the main counter here. Annnnd I think that's everything."
"Wow...you're really organized," Max said after the tour was done. If you got a look at Max's apartment, you'd know just how *not* organized she really was. "And you have no idea just how crazy KISS fans are. If one in the area finds out that you have KISS stuff, then they will all like...flood you."
"Well, the store is. It pays to know where everything is in case we need it. For the most part I'm pretty messy, though." Blake chuckled. "And a flood's better than nothing as far as I'm concerned, so they can bring it." You can really see where her personality comes from, huh? "So, do you have any questions? And also, because I'm a doofus: What do you like? What're your hobbies? What do you think about dragons?"
"Very true. I'm kind of messy, too, but I can keep this place clean." Max looked around the place a little. "Dragons are cool, as long as they aren't trying to burn my ass, because my ass is cute and I'm kinda attached to it. I like rock music and Nintendo games. I can't play a lick of music, really, though. Most of my singing takes place in the shower. If I'm not hanging around a club, I'm playing Nintendo with a friend that I've made here in Vegas since I moved."
"Okay, you're officially the cutest thing ever." Blake chuckled. "But those are all things that I fully endorse, so I think that you'll fit in here just fine. If you get bored here sometime and it's completely dead, I insist that you read something. I'd consider it research." She winked.
"I'll keep that in mind," Max said to her with a grin. She could totally get behind doing some 'research' while hanging around here during a work day.
