Christmas Discussions
Who: Jennae and Willie
Where: Their Apartment
When: December 14th, Afternoon
Jennae had taken advantage of a rare day off to get in a little bit of Christmas shopping. So it was no wonder that the brunette had her hands full of shopping bags as she trekked up the stairs to the apartment she shared with her cousin, Willie. Stopping at the door, Jennae struggled with keeping hold of her bags while at the same time trying to locate her key and then get the door open.
Willie actually heard Jennae outside the apartment door, and, even though she had been ridiculously busy, she stopped what she was doing and ran to get the door. "Got you, cousin dear!" she said, grabbing some bags and carrying them inside for Jennae. When she got into the apartment, she could see that Willie had went all out for the Christmas decorations, with a big as possible tree set up covered with decorations, stockings hanging from the wall, and just about anything else you could think of in the tiny apartment. "It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas, eh Jennae?" Willie asked.
'Thanks." Jennae said as she stepped into the apartment quite appreciative of her cousin unburdening her of some of her bags. "Feel and look a lot like." Jennae admitted as she glanced around the apartment Willie had somehow single handedly decorated with her own personal holiday flair as she unloaded her packages down onto the floor.
"Well, that's the point," Willie said with a giggle. She shut the door behind Jennae so that they could feel a little more comfortable inside. "Luckily, I already had the chance to get my shopping done," she teased. "But I don't have to work the hours that you do."
"Well, if I worked the hours you do I'd probably would have gotten all my shopping done by now too." Jennae teased back. "I do thank you for decorating the place, don't know when I would have been able to get around to making it look all Christmasy."
"I like decorating," she said with a smirk. She had really enjoyed turning their apartment into a veritable Christmas display for Macy's. If they had a house to decorate the outside of, she'd be the one who'd go all out and have 1000 dollar light bills, probably. "Lucky me with my schedule, though, even if you get paid WAY better."
"I'm sure the tips you get more then compensate for the low pay you get for the job you do." Jennae commented back to her cousin. "So, are you planning on spending Christmas with your folks?" She asked softly since they were on the topic of the holiday. With it only like a week away, a thought that made Jennae cringe knowing it was so close, Jennae wanted to know if she'd have company those days or not.
"The tips definitely make up for the low pay," Jenna said with a smile. "Still, dealing with drunken bachelor's can get irritating, no matter how much money they usually leave behind," Willie said. "I think this year I'm going to save money and then fly in for Easter, actually. Mum and Dad are going on a cruise for Christmas, so me going home would be worthless."
"Well, I'm glad for them. It's good that your folks are planning on doing something nice for themselves for the holidays. Saves me from having a lonely Christmas this year." Jennae smiled softly to her cousin. She usually found herself working Christmas Eve day, which left her spending the evening usually at the apartment unwrapping her gifts alone. This year was going to be a nice change for her.
Willie knew that her cousin usually spent time alone during the holidays. That tended to happen when the majority of your family lived on a different continent. Still, she was more than happy to spend time with her cousin in the States this year. "I'm sure they'll have a grand ole time," Willie said with a smirk. "They totally deserve it."
"Just as we deserve to have a grand ole time on Christmas." Jennae said, and she was determined to make sure just that happened for the both of them. Which had been why she went a little bit overboard with her Christmas shopping.
And why her Christmas decorating made the place look like something out of a Christmas store display. Plus, she just totally had fun with it. "And we will, so don't worry about it. I can only sort of cook...but it can't be THAT hard to make a Christmas goose, can it?"
"Okay, you are not allowed anywhere near the oven with the Christmas goose." Jennae informed her cousin with a soft laugh. Thankfully she managed to wrangle that day off and would be home to see to the cooking of the Christmas goose herself. "I don't think making the potatoes and vegetables will be too much of a chore for you." In that she felt confident, cause really how could someone mess up making mashed potatoes and cooking vegetables.
"Well...I can at least chop vegetables..." Willie offered helpfully. It had been what she had been regulated to in the kitchen during holidays while at home. "I'm sure I can cook them, though...plus, you'll be there to watch over me!"
"Are you sure? Maybe you should just stick with picking up dessert for Christmas Eve." Jennae said teasingly to her cousin. She was pretty confident that Willie could manage the vegetables, at least, quite capably.
Willie laughed. "I'm sure I'll be fine with veggies...but picking up desert sounds like fun, too," Willie said with a grin.
"Looks like, then, we've got dinner all planned out for Christmas Eve." Jennae smiled relieved that at least that part of the night was now properly planned and hopeful it would all go smoothly.
"Sounds like!" Willie said with a smile. Hopefully Willie wouldn't burn the kitchen down.
