Training Day
Who: Bella and Akito
Where: Their Home
When: Saturday Night, 12/4
Bella had changed out of anything that she would allow others to see her in, instead wearing a pair of basic yoga pants that she had gotten from a Family Dollar and a sports bra (what, like she was going to wear something expensive just for it to get ruined). Her and Akito were going to start ta raining session soon. She tired her hair back into a tight bun so that it would stay in place, then left her bedroom in order to meet him.
Akito walked in then, face emotionless, body dressed in an old-fashioned off-white karate gi. He took a long look at her, as if sizing up what she could do compared to what her own mind was capable of. "Now. In a perfect world... there would be no reason I should be able to even last moments in a fight with you. You are stronger. Faster. More agile. Yet... due to my years of training and your own.. lack of knowledge of your own abilities... I can almost guarantee you a much closer duel than one would think. My goal... is to get you able to physically annihilate me. Easily."
"Grand," Bella said. "I really only have inklings of an idea as to what I know, Slayer wise. Kind of depressing, actually." While she would like to know her memories and what she should know, she was pretty sure that she liked the person that she was, rather than the diva she once became.
"Your mistake... and it's not personal, it's one ALL Slayers tend to make... is thinking of your abilities in terms of what a SLAYER can do. Not what a well-trained warrior of any nature can do." He looked at her as he fell into a battle-ready stance. "Don't think. Don't plan. Just... react. Let your natural warrior instincts take control."
It was true. All Slayers seemed to assume more that their abilities made them great, forgetting to take into account their training as well. With a nod, she fell into a fighting stance as well, trying to make sure that she was ready for him when he came for her.
Now... Akito was a human. Nothing supernatural at all. So imagine her surprise when he flew at her with a flurry of punches and kicks that seemed almost too fast for the human eye to process.
She was surprised, but, at the same time, she really wasn't. She did get that you didn't have to be uber strong to still be a good fighter. For someone who remembered so little of any training she might have had, she was able to block most of the punches, although a couple still got through.
He actually had to restrain himself so that he didn't entirely overwhelm her, which was damned impressive. She'd never fought a demon or vampire that was as vicious and relentless. He stopped, backing off and walking to the far wall, where dual katana's hung. Grabbing them, he threw them to her, smirking. "Show me how you handle these. Not on me, of course... just in general."
She shook some of the stars out of her head and caught the katanas when they were tossed to her. After something of a test twirl, she realized that she actually *did* know how to handle them. "Another mystery solved," she muttered as she started to show through certain steps that she really did know what she was doing with them.
"Now... you see? It's all there. It's a matter of tapping into it. Of using focus and discipline. And Bella..." His voice softened a bit there, as he placed a hand on her shoulder. "Together... we will turn you into the warrior we both know you can be."
She stopped swinging the katanas around to make sure that she didn't accidentally hit him with one of them. They were slashing and piercing, after all. Stabbity death for the Watcher was not of the good. "If anyone can get me tapped into the vein, you can," she said with a slight smile.
"Exactly." He said with a calm smile. "With my help... you're going to be exactly what you were born to be. The Ultimate Slayer."
Her smile got a little wider. "Well, if anyone can make me that, I think it's you," she said simply to him. Maybe he'd at least be able to bring out the training that she obviously had in her.
"Now you understand why I was entrusted with training you. The other watchers... they have much knowledge... but not a lot of fighting ability." He kept his tone even, concentrating to keep his English perfect and his accent light. "They... would not know how to properly train you in the manner you need."
She nodded. "I think you're right," she admitted. Damien, while adept, certainly wasn't near the ability that Akito had. "Then again, I'm not something that comes around every day, even as far as slayers are concerned."
"You are one of a kind, dear Bella. And it is truly an honor to be the one chosen to train you." Oh my GOD. Not only was he finally being respectful to her... he actually gave her a sincere bow!
She gave him a bow in return. It seemed that these two were finally figuring out how to work with and deal with each other. "It's an honor to get to train with you."
