Newest Watcher in the Mix
Who: Wesley and Akito
Where: Akito's Home
When: Monday Night, 6/14
Wesley looked down at the address and looked up again at the home. The address was correct. He was at the home of one Mr. Akito Kuyuki, a man that Giles had asked to see if he would take over the Watching duties for Bella McConnell. Wesley didn't know the man at all, but hoped that he would be willing to take them, since Bella's old Watcher had moved back to England while Bella was 'away.' He walked up to the man's door and knocked.
When the door opened, the man on the other side seemed, well... emotionless. He didn't seem happy to have company, nor annoyed to have a stranger at his door. He merely stood there, strong Asian features seemingly made of stone, body clad in a black martial arts uniform. He slightly bowed his head to Wesley, as if knowing already who he was. "Mr. Wyndham-Price, I presume." He said in a calm, soft tone.
"Yes, that would be me," Wesley said to him. "Mr. Giles sent me here to talk to you. Is that OK?" He didn't know the man, and had no idea as to how to read him.
"By all means." The man moved aside gracefully, even the most mundane movements fluid, almost snakelike. "I told Mr. Giles years ago... should he ever need my assistance, I would be here." Other than a slight accent, his English was perfect, which was a little surprising,as his home looked plucked directly from some old kung-fu movie in it's decor.
Wesley walked inside. "I'm glad to hear that," he said to him. "We have a special Slayer who needs some training that none of us are quite as qualified as you are to provide."
"It would be an honor, and a priveledge, of course." This guys seemed FAR too stoic to be true. Of course, it was primarily because once this guy got pissed? He was pretty much a force of nature. "Will I be needing to relocate to Los Angeles?" He inquired, walking to fix each of them a cup of tea.
"I actually do not think so," Wesley said after a beat. Even though the girl had been gone for only about six months, a lot had changed, including whom the girl was seeing before, from what he had been told. "I believe that she might be coming to Las Vegas soon. She's related to the Bale family, and several of them are moving to Las Vegas. I am coming with my Slayer as well."
"...the Bale family." He repeated, seemingly a little surprised there. "I wasn't aware this new Council was in allegiance with the lycans." Not that shifters bothered him... but the Bales had a reputation as a bit of a mafia family.
"It's more of an understanding than an allegiance," Wesley said. OK, he still didn't like Benjamin Bale. Gwen might have finally forgiven the two of them, but he never would. "One of the Slayers married into the family, though, and another young Slayer is a Slayer instead of a lycan, strangely enough." To quote a show that hadn't come out yet, the Bales seemed to be 'mainstreaming' it more than other Lycan families did.
"And this slayer I am to train..." He asked, raising one eyebrow slowly. "I would be... remiss not to ask why she in particular was chosen to be placed under my watch."
Wesley nodded. "She's a girl from...well, a future," he said to Akito. "A future that doesn't exist anymore, so she can't go back to it, though. She has the DNA of two separate Slayers in her, though, which makes her unique, even among Slayers." If that made sense at all. It didn't to Wesley, but apparently it happened just the same.
"I see." He said simply, obviously not a man of many words. "I will do as the Council requests, of course. Will this girl need living arrangements?"
"I don't think so." The Bales were practically made of money, as that were. "The two of you should meet soon, though. She's also eighteen, so she at least won't have to live with her parents or a guardian, either." And didn't have to worry about school, either.
He nodded, before choosing his words carefully. "I will train her. But she will have to agree to my methods. At first, she will stay here. So that I may supervise her training at all times."
Wesley simply nodded. He would make sure that Bella was informed of this as well. She did have a choice in the matter, of course. This person was just the best trainer for her, since none of the rest of them had anything on his abilities.
"Then, as I said... I accept the Council's assignment, graciously." He bowed politely, before righting himself. "Will you be... needing my assistance with anything else?"
"If we are, I will be sure to let you know," Wesley said to the man. "Thank you again for being so willing to do this for us."
"My family has served the Council for 80 years, sir. As they did before me... I live to serve." Well. Wasn't this guy just a barrel of laughs, huh?
