A Mutual Love For Ice Cream
Who: Gypsie and Joey
Where: The Ice Cream Palace
When: Afternoon - June 15
If hunting down the supernatural had become nightly routine for Gypsie, then hanging out at the Ice Cream Palace fell into the category of her daily routine. Getting her usual chocolate chip ice cream sundae, Gyspie roamed the place til she found a booth to sit in and enjoy her frozen delicacy.
Ever since she'd gone into remission for lukemia nine months ago, Joey vowed to appreciate the little things in life. And eating ice cream? Definitely fell into the 'little things' category. She made her way into the ice cream parlour, dressed in faded blue jeans and a white tank-top (which had an adorable monkey printed on it), she approached the counter and bought herself a boysenberry cone (double-stacked, thank you very much), before plopping down into the booth opposite Gypsie. "Is there anything more glorious than ice cream?" She giggled.
"Boysenberry, Joes?" Gypsie commented with disbelief at the flavor of ice her friend had chosen to get. "You really need to be a bit more adventurous then that." The Slayer added with a flash of a grin. Gypsie didn't really have anything in the way of friends in the City of Sin save for the girl sitting opposite her now in the booth. A most unlikely of friendships to say the least as the girls were as different as day and night. Who would have thought that a friendship could have been developed merely over a mutual love of ice cream.
Joey giggled and put a hand in front of her ice cream, trying to shield it, "Hush. You'll hurt its feelings." Not that it had feelings, but let a girl have her fun. She grinned and licked across the edging before it started to drip. "And what's wrong with boysenberry, hm? Like that's any less mundane than chocolate chip!"
"Do not mock a classic." Gypsie stated pointing her plastic spoon at the girl as if defining her point. "Besides, Boysenberry is so the flavor of the week. Destined to not be around all that much longer."
The busty blonde exhaled a 'ppft' and rolled her eyes with a cheeky little grin before she continued lapping up her delicious treat. Hm, clearly this was a discussion they had frequently. As was… "So how has the whole," she flailed at the air feebly, trying to mimic punching (which was another thing that separated them, Joey couldn't fight her way out of a wet paper bag), "been?"
Gypsie groaned internally at the mock boxing display. It was a general rule of the Slayer's not to divulge to anyone what her nightly extracurricular activity was, but Joey Marx was a special case. The girl had actually penetrated the walls Gypsie built up around her ever since leaving Astoria. Joey was the only friend she had in the city, and the Slayer didn't want a replay of what had happened to her family. Gypsie felt she had no option but to tell the girl about what was out there and what she was.
"It's been how it usually is, at least for the most part." Gypsie answered as she resumed eating her ice cream. There was something on her mind, but she wasn't sure how to broach the subject, or even if it should be brought up.
Joey really was a special case. Ever since she was a child, she was able to sense thoughts and emotions. And right now? She sensed the other girl was hiding something from her. "Penny for your thoughts?"
"Hmm?" Gypsie glanced up at the other girl. "It's nothing, really. Just might need a place to crash for a couple days." Make sure she was far away from the Price guy until she figured out what exactly her next move would be. Gypsie really wasn't wanting to leave Vegas, but staying might not be an option afforded to her.
"You can stay with us as long as you need," the blonde offered, not even stopping to think about what she was offering here. Gypsie was her friend; therefore she'd do what she could to help her. "My dad won't mind. Promise." ...He tended to dote on Joey, in all honesty.
She didn't ask for much, but what she did ask for, he gave her. She gave him good health (well more recently, anyway) and straight A's, he'd do anything for her.
"You sure your dad won't mind?" He'd probably not even notice that she was there as the Slayer knew Joey's dad worked days, and with Gypsie having the night time thing they'd probably never cross paths. Still, the Slayer didn't feel quite right about asking or insinuating herself in the family's life. No matter how temporary it might be.
"He won't. If anything, he'll be overjoyed to have you there. He still worries about leaving me alone," she admitted. She found his worry comforting sometimes, but… she also found it a little overwhelming. She needed room to breathe too, you know? "I insist," she added, a polite way of saying 'you've got no choice in the matter'.
"It'll only be for a couple days til I figure things out." Gypsie told her. Maybe she'd find another place to live or return to the hotel she was staying in. After being gone a couple days maybe the Price guy would accept the fact that she moved on making it safe for her to take a different room at the hotel.
"As long as you need," Joey repeated, smiling sweetly before biting into her cone. That was the thing about Joey; she had no problem offering something to a friend in need. She was just… a genuinely nice and honest person like that.
