New People
Who: Bella and Chris
Where: Avarice II
When: Sat. Night, Sept. 18th
Avarice II. Seriously, Chris was kind of starting to love this place. It played his kind of music, and privately, he hoped that maybe he could get his band, The Bitter End, a gig here, as it would almost inevitably lead to a lot more exposure for them. For now, he leaned against the bar, sipping at a tall glass of root beer, clad in black jeans, a sleeveless gray hoodie with his band's logo on it, and a black skullcap.
Bella had come here to get a little time off from strictly training. Sadly, it had been Mr. Fuyuki who had suggested that she go out, less she burn out on training too quickly. Seemed that he did understand that she couldn't train all the time, even more so than she did. Still, as soon as she was here, she couldn't help but feel relief about it. Smoothing out her dress, she sat down at the bar and ordered herself a drink.
He raised a brow when he saw Bella, as really... she was dressed more for some fancy dance club. But still... DAMN... talk about beautiful. He tried to give her a little once-over without being obvious...
Bella seemed to have inherited her mother's fashion sense, or maybe it had sort of been implanted from borrowing Chloe's clothing so much. She'd never properly be sure. It didn't really matter, though. She liked what she was wearing, even if it made her stand out a little in this place. She happened to look over while he was looking her over, and gave him a grin saying 'I know what you're doing.'
"Aw, shit." He blurted out, laughing as he rolled his eyes. "Sorry. Wasn't trying to leer or anything. You're just kinda gorgeous." He said, not really flirting as much as just being his usual, bluntly honest self.
She laughed. "I wouldn't dress this way if I didn't enjoy getting an appreciative glance or two," she told him. She had a point. "My name's Bella," she said, offering him her hand.
"At least you're honest about it. Too many girls dress like they're going to do a Playboy shoot... then have the nerve to get pissed if you stare. And I'm Chris. Nice to meet you." He took her hand in one of his massive ones, squeezing it gently. "You come here a lot? I've only been here once... love it though."
"Can't stand stuck up women like that, actually," she said to him, shaking his hand back. "I...haven't been out much since I first moved here, but I definitely like it here. It's a lot like the one in LA."
"You've been to the one in LA? Lucky... I heard that place is amazing... all kinds of rock stars hanging there..." He said with a sigh, sort of wishing he was one of those stars.
She nodded. "Yeah, it's got plenty of those," she said. Her mother was one of them, actually, but she couldn't just go around and mention that, could she? "Of course, it's got people like Haylee James and Jayden Van Houten there as well. Guess they were running out of legit rock stars and started to have to fill it with other people."
"I dunno... I think it'd be cool to even see them... most of the people we get around here are lame as hell. Why would you move HERE if you lived in LA?" He asked, not getting it at ALL.
"Not everything in LA is as awesome as seeing celebrities," Bella said with a slight shrug. She wasn't sure if she was willing to get into all the specifics again with a stranger. Her outpouring one night was one thing, but now she was in control (mostly) of her emotions again. "I've also seen Broken Sunrise play live and met all of them, though." OK, so she wanted to show off a little. Too bad she couldn't say that Pat was her dad, huh?
"I bet... girl as hot as you, like they wouldn't ALL wanna meet you. Seriously." He whistled to himself, just staring at her for a moment. "Not trying to sound like an ass here... just... wow. You're seriously beautiful."
She somehow managed to suppress the cringe that she felt coming forth at the idea of Pat EVER trying to get to know her in the way that Chris might have been thinking. God, webs were so tangled there. "I don't think you sound like an ass. You're gonna make a girl blush."
"I'm actually thinking of trying to get the owners of this place to hear my band's demo. I'd love to play here sometime..." He said, looking toward the stage wistfully. "I know we're good enough... we just need a chance."
Well, maybe she could do this guy a favor. "Actually, I know someone who knows the owners of this place." Might as well keep it vague so as to not blow his mind. "If you give me a copy, I can get it to them, if you'd like."
"...really? You'd do that for someone you just met? How about that... as nice as she is sexy..." Chris laughed, trying and failing to not keep staring at her. He really couldn't help it.
She grinned. "I'm an amazingly nice person once you get to know me," she said playfully. "I get the feeling that you'll be finding that out, though." Well, she was going through the effort of giving his demo over.
"I'll be finding that out?" He asked, grinning like an idiot. "Meaning I can plan on seeing you more after tonight?" She was so small compared to him, but was just about the most perfect, beautiful thing he'd ever laid eyes on. "And be gentle here... a man's heart can only take so much..."
"Well, I'm going to at least have to see you twice," she said. "First to tell you what they said about the tape, and second because you're obviously going to take me out for a celebratory drink afterward."
"Suddenly that drink is the only part I'm even caring about..." he muttered, unable to take his eyes off of her. Still, he managed to think enough to reach into his backpack, which was sitting beside him, and pull out a silver CD, in a white envelope. "Here... if you like this kinda music, take a listen to it yourself. Maybe you'll like it."
"Well, I was going to give it a listen before I handed it over, for sure." She wasn't going to hand over a crap garage band to Bronte Bale, after all. She took the CD and slid it into her purse. "I'm sure they'll love it, though."
"At the risk of sounding cocky? Damn right they will. We're the shit." He said with an impossibly cocky, almost Ben-like grin. "We're called The Bitter End. If I have my way... you're gonna be hearing a lot more of us."
"Well, let's hope your music lives up to your word," Bella said with a grin. People this cocky usually had something to back it up. Let's just hope that was the case here as well.
"I think it holds up well..." He replied simply, giving her a gaze that practically showed he was trying to memorize every feature.
"Then I'm sure that you'll be famous before you know it," Bella said with a grin. Either way, she figured that she'd be seeing a lot more of this guy. Hope he likes Slayers!
"Can't say I'd object..." He said with a laugh, privately wondering if she'd be freaked out to find out what he really was. Hell, if he only knew, hm?
