Phone Call
Who: Bastian and Georgie
Where: Over the phone
When: Sunday, September 12th
Bastian had been meaning to make this call for over two weeks now but for some reason or another, she hadn't gotten around to it. Today, she'd planned to change that. After all, she wanted to stay in Las Vegas for at least a week and certainly wanted to be back for Neely's 21st birthday. Since she was sure that would be entertaining.
The blonde witch was lying on her bed with her legs up against the wall, listening to the line ring. As much as she missed her sisters, in this she knew it was best to call before hand. At least to warn her nana...
When the phone started ringing, Georgie squirmed out of a hug that Tom was trying to wrap her in and walked toward the phone. "Tom do me a favor and bugger off so that I can talk on the phone in peace," she said to him, picking it up. She hadn't been expecting a call, but that barely made a difference in her life these days. Since Bastian had come to stay, the phone had been ringing off the hook, although that was mostly Gwen wanting to talk, or set up somewhere to fool around. Ugh.
"Hello?" she asked as she picked up the phone, swatting away Tom as he tried to come in for another hug, or kiss, or just meddlesome touching that he was want to do.
What did you say to a relative that you hadn't met in this universe yet? Bastian, of course, took the direct approach: "Hi, this is Bastian, one of Neely's daughters from an alternate universe. Am I speaking to Georgie?" God, wouldn't it be funny if she'd dialed the wrong number?
Lucky for her she wasn't, huh? "This is she," Georgie said. "Hello, dear. Glad to actually hear from you."
"Thank you," Bastian replied. "It's nice to hear your voice. I hope Blake hasn't been giving you too much grief." She smirked, knowing Blake...
Blake hasn't been any trouble at all," Georgie said with a slight laugh. "I was a little surprised to hear that you weren't coming as well, then I was told why, and completely understood." Love will do that, after all.
"Nothing ever turns out quite like you plan," Bastian replied with a slight smile. "Speaking of plans, Meeghan and I would like to visit soon. I've asked her to meet my family... Even though technically, we're not... Your approval still means a lot to me." Was she... Babbling? D'aw. How cute!
"Things hardly ever do," Georgie said, casting a slight glance at Tom while she said it, who seemed to have turned his attention to her fridge for now. "And you're still family to me." She hadn't been expecting grandkids this early, but that didn't mean she wasn't happy to have them. Hell, she was young enough to enjoy them. Even better! "I'd be happy to meet her."
"Good," Bastian replied in her usual flat tone, which would have been ruined had Georgie seen her, as she was bouncing excitedly (and slightly awkwardly, given her position) on the bed. "Thank you."
She sucked her lip between her teeth thoughtfully and arched an eyebrow, as Neely so often did. "I was thinking of giving cousin Bronte a call and asked to stay at her hotel." Since she had no doubt in her mind that she and Meeghan would have The Sex. A lot. And the last thing she wanted to do was make things more awkward than they needed to be.
She had a feeling that it would have been something like that, if she was wanting to stay in a hotel. "Well, you're welcome to stay here, but Gwen and Blake might keep you up at night with their bedroom Olympics," Georgie joked, showing that she had no real problem with anything of that nature.
Bastian smiled faintly. "We're not much better," she admitted. Of course, she wasn't one to mark her territory like Blake was. Ahem. "I just figured one horny teenager and her girlfriend was enough. You didn't need two."
"Frankly, I'm kind of used to being around horny teenagers, or your grandfather, who acts like one," she said with a slight laugh. "It's up to you, though. I'm not too worried about it either way."
Bastian giggled. "Cool. I'm sorry to spring this on you, I just... Want her to meet my family." Which yes, was a big step. Although interestingly, she hadn't said the 'L' word yet...
That just made her laugh. "It's not a problem, don't worry about it. I definitely have the room here." Even if she hadn't, Tom probably did, although she doubted anyone would willingly want to spend the night at his pigsty of a place.
"Thank you." Bastian reached over the bed for her stuffed penguin, Herbert, and hugged him to her chest. "I'm hoping we'll leave after I finish school on Friday." She also hoped that her boss wouldn't mind that she'd be gone for a week. Heh.
"I'll make sure to have the bedroom ready for you by then," she said to her.
