You hit the bloody jackpot, pet Who: Gypsie and Gwen, then Gypsie and Narcissa Where: Streets of Vegas, then an abandoned store When: Tuesday Night - August 31
Gypise was out wandering the main strip of Vegas. Joey was home safe and sound with barely a mark on her from the attack she suffered through a short time back. One less thing for the teen to worry about. She knew she had a deal made with another Slayer in the city, Gwen, but the teen hadn't as of yet attempted to make contact with the girl. For some reason Gypsie was delaying the inevitable. She'd have to join them to hold up her part of the bargain, which then have Gwen and the others obligated to help watch over Joey.
Unluckily for her... Gwen had come LOOKING for her, honestly anticipating the sudden case of cold feet. After searching for a couple of hours, Gwen finally spotted the other slayer, and called out to her. "Hey! You know.. I got a funny story. It's about this girl who had a moment of sweetness and walked FIVE BLOCKS AWAY to get coffee for another girl, only to come back and see that said girl had gone away and left the first girl hanging. And with two cups of coffee. Ain't that story a bitch and a half?"
Gypsie literally cringed at the sound of the other slayer's voice. Wasn't much she could do now save for turn and face the girl. Running wasn't an option as trying to escape another slayer on foot was a foolish notion. "That's one hell of a story. Said girl probably had her reasons for bailing." Which in this case had been a boy named Cliff. Everytime they seemed to come within ten feet of each other anything civil that they might have started off with seemed to turn into harsh words and raised voices.
"Yeah, well.. now you owe me even more. Which means you're totally gonna meet the watcher I picked out for you. She's cool as hell, and actually dates my watcher. Which I don't get. And you won't either, once you meet 'em both. Seriously."
Gwen shook her head then, getting back on track.
"So... yeah. Time to come with me."
"Being a bit demanding, aren't we." Gypsie crossed her arms as she spoke. That was one thing she detested. People demanding or insisting she do something. Which was why she was refusing to budge at the moment. The girl could be stubborn as hell without putting much thought to it.
"Demanding? Nope... I like to think of it more as 'cashing in on a favor'. C'mon, seriously... don't make me whine. It's REALLY annoying." She was TRYING to be friendly here, and joke around. She wouldnt try to make the girl work with her... but damn was she determined to make her WANT to...
"God, don't start with the whining." Gypsie groaned. "All that high pitched noise is tough on the ears, ya know." This was something that Gypsie really wasn't wanting to do, but she owed Gwen, and they did have that agreement made concerning Joey.
"Fine. But if I don't like this Watcher you hand selected you have to promise you won't try forcing another one on me." While Gypsie wasn't making any promises the least she could do was meet the woman.
"All I ask is that you give her a chance." Gwen laughed, rolling her eyes. "Don't like... talk to her for five minutes then say 'nope! Don't like her'... Give her a real chance. And no... I wouldn't try forcing anyone on you. Frankly? If Narcissa and you don't bond... I can't see anyone making the grade here."
"Fine." Gypsie grumbled and starting walking, though she wasn't certain her feet were carrying her in the right direction. At least she had an out if she truly didn't like the Watcher Gwen had hand selected. In her opinion, Gypsie did better on her own then under the tutelage of a mentor/teacher.
"Dont worry, babe. Like I said. All I want is to help you. If we find that getting you a watcher isn't gonna do that? No harm no foul. I promise. But I wanna help you protect Joey. And this is the BEST way to do it. With proper training and a bunch of teammates to help you out." Holy shit... when did GWEN get common sense?
"I'm not going to have to, like, relocate anywhere. Am I?" Because honestly? Gypsie was kind of liking living at Joey's place. She had kind of gotten comfortable in the place since leaving the hotel room she had been living in rent free.
"Nah. You can live wherever you want. I only live with my watcher because he's practically like my dad. And he doesn't even give me shit when I have loud sex with my girlfriend that probably keeps him awake and gives him nightmares."
Sigh. Ok, so in some ways, Gwen would NEVER change.
"Thanks for sharing that little bit of unwanted information." Gyspie smirked. That's really just what she loved hearing about. Gwen could have kept details of her sexcapades with her girlfriend to herself.
"Ohhhh, I'm all about the overshare. It's part of my dubious charm." Gwen replied with a snort. After they walked for a bit, they finally got to a small, seemingly abandoned store. "Once we get it fixed up, this is gonna be our HQ. Narcissa's in there now checkin' the place out for Wesley."
"So this is going to be the future HQ for your band of Merry Men?" Gypsie questioned looking up at the place that seemed to have no life to it. Wasn't all that bad judging by it's outside appearance, Gyspie had slept in worse places.
"Yeah, I guess it is. But for now, I'm stayin' out here. Because I'd like you to go in and introduce yerself to Narcissa" Gwen said with a resigned chuckle. "Because truthfully... If this lady isn't tailor-made to help you, I don't KNOW who is."
Gypsie eyed the other slayer with suspicion. She hadn't expected that Gwen would insist on waiting out on the street while she went in to meet the "chosen one". "Fine." Gypsie said in what pretty much amounted to a grumble before she stepped forward to enter the building. She'd do the meeting, which she wasn't of the opinion that it would go smoothly, and then emerge to inform Gwen that she still had a Watcherless slayer within her little band of Merry Men.
Narcissa stood against the far wall, kicking her combat-boot-clad heel against the corner. Chewing on a stick of gum with an annoyed sneer on her pierced lips, clad in a vinyl miniskirt and black stockings with a Misfits Fiend Club tank, her blood-red hair tied into a loose pony, she muttered to herself: "Stupid sodding electricians... Does nobody know how to install a bloody three-prong socket properly?" Yes... She was pissed because she had no place to plug in her CD player.
After entering the building and spotting Narcissa with the realization that the woman wasn't aware yet of her presence, Gypsie cleared her throat. The Watcher hadn't been what the girl had been expecting. For some reason Gypsie had expected her to be some stuffy type dressed all businesslike, not one dressed in a miniskirt and tank top.
"Hrm?" Cissa looked up, giving a snarky but friendly smile to the girl. "Gypsie, I take it?" The woman extended a hand to her. "Gwen texted me, said you gals were on your way. I'm Narcissa Mareau, your HOPEFULLY new watcher. If I don't end up electrocuting myself trying to get this sodding socket to work..."
"Nice to meet you." The teen said offering her hand out to the woman. It really wasn't, though, a pleasure to meet the woman, but Gypsie didn't want to be openly rude to the Watcher. All she wanted to do was get this meeting over and done with, and hopefully still be Watcherless at its conclusion.
"Maybe you should have a professional electrician take a look at it?" The woman obviously seemed to be out of her element where anything electrical was concerned.
"I told Wesley that, but evidently it's a bit rough getting one in here on such short notice. Bloody hell." She grumbled, looking the girl over. "So... you're the one Gwen said doesn't want a watcher?"
"I don't need one." Gypsie stated matter-of-factly to the woman. Not that anyone seemed to be listening to her on that front. All concerned seemed to feel that she did need a Watcher, and apparently Narcissa was the appointed one.
"Oh, you do need one..." Cissa said with a smirk. "Point is, you don't WANT one. And I respect that. I'm not like Gwen... I'm not gonna sit here and force you into anything. God knows I didn't want to be a watcher at first... if I had my way? I'd be back in London right now, singing in a punk band. But I let my father force me into this life. Do I want you to give working with me a try? Hell yes. I think you and I could be a bloody brilliant combination. But will I guilt you or force you into it? No. If you want to leave... leave. I promise to make sure Gwen doesn't try to stop you."
"What's the catch?" To Gypsie it was too easy to be allowed, if she chose to, to simply walk out of the place the same way she came in. Watcherless. Suspicious of anyone she didn't know the girl was figuring there was an ulterior motive behind being allowed to leave without agreeing to let Narcissa become her watcher.
"No catch. I want my slayer to WANT to work with me. I don't want anyone doing this for the reasons my father made ME." Narcissa walked over to the girl, walking around her, as if sizing her up. "But I will tell you this: you won't find a watcher more fitting to your needs than me. But... I want you to trust me. And to earn trust... you have to take risks. And this is the risk I'm taking. If you don't want to give training with me a shot... there's the door."
"Tried that trust thing once. All it ended up doing was get people killed." Gypsie told her as she circled in place keeping an eye on Narcissa as the Watcher moved around her seeming to size her up. "But, because of a deal I made with Gwen I'll give you a go with the option that I can walk away free and clear if I don't think this Slayer/Watcher gig is working."
"Consider it a deal. I promise you... I won't betray any trust you place in me. And if I don't mind saying so m'self..." She grinned, cocky little thing she was, "You ain't about to get a cooler bitch as your watcher. You hit the bloody jackpot, pet."
"There ain't a Watcher alive who's cooler then Cintia Davis was." Gypsie informed the woman. Cintia had been her Watcher back in Astoria. Cintia, along with Gypsie's family, had been killed by a small band of vampires in the coastal town. It had been due to that reason the Slayer left Astoria and wandered alone til she hit Vegas. And was the major reason she built up a wall around herself to keep people out. "We'll see how well you stack up."
"I guess all I can do is try my best, pet." She extended a hand to the slayer, giving a sincere smile. "What do you say... we gonna try to show everyone else how much better than them we are?"
The Slayer hesitantly offered her hand to the woman. "I'm willing to give it a shot." Gypsie said, though she couldn't promise that would be the end result.
