Who: Draven & Brenna (with an appearance by Project 27)
Where: Avarice II
When: Friday night
His long black duster and matching fedora covering all but that smirking face and long hair, Draven Leroux looked the epitome of cool as he stood in the corner of the dance floor at the club, away from the people actually dancing and closer to the huge speakers and the restrooms. He was losing himself a bit in the beat of the music, as the hard, driving metal beat was almost soothing to him after the night he'd had.
While Draven stood in one corner of the dance floor trying to enjoy himself amongst the pulsating beat of the music playing and the crowds of people making use of the dance floor, Brenna was just entering the club. Adorned in a cute, multi-colored dress and pair of black ankle boots, the blonde maneuvered herself through the throng of people toward the bar.
While, for some reason, he didn't seem willing to move very far from that exact spot, he grinned when he saw Brenna, and snapped his fingers, sending a tiny spark of energy just close enough to her to get her attention. So he hoped she'd see him and want to come talk for a few. So sue him.
Catching the glimmer from the corner of her eye, Brenna stopped slightly puzzled to look in that direction. As her eyes wandered through the crowd a smile spread slowly when the teen finally caught sight of Draven. The blond was soon maneuvering her way through the body of people toward the guy.
He found himself smiling slightly to himself when he saw her coming. So? He thought she was a total hottie. Shush. "Funny..." he said as she finally made her way over. "We just can't seem to stop running into one another..."
"Seems that way." Brenna smiled when she reached him. Not that she'd ever complain. In fact nothing would please her more then to run into the guy and be able to spend more time with him.
"Sorry to have to get your attention that way... normally I'd come over in a more... traditional way." He smirked, glad that she hadn't been startled by his little display.
"I would have been incredibly displeased, and hurt, if you hadn't gotten my attention somehow while we were in the same place." And greatly disappointed she would have been if she would've learned Draven had been at Avarice II the same time as she and had not let her know.
"Well... fear not. Because I could never let something like that happen." Oh geez.. he was really trying to be a charmer, wasn't he? Like some kind of comic-book Lothario or something. Luckily he had the smooth voice to pull it off without sounding ridiculous. However... before he could mack on her more? His reason for staying in that one spot became clear.
The door to the ladies' room opened, and a young girl with blondish-brown hair in pigtails, looking to be 12 or 13 at the oldest, walked out. She wore a cute, plaid skirt and red button-down blouse, looking to be about the cutest, sweetest thing in the world. She walked over to them, and, without even caring if Brenna knew what she or Draven was, just blurted out, in a voice far too cute to be normally saying something like this, "Draven? I got the blood off of the knife, and stored it properly in the sheath under my skirt, but sadly, I fear the blood stain on the side of the skirt will never come out. I was sloppy, and for that I apologize. But on the bright side, at least it was merely a drunken rapist I disemboweled." Then she blinked at Brenna and gave... a sweet wave? "Oh. Hello!"
Brenna was about to respond to Draven when they were suddenly interrupted by a pigtailed pre-teen. "Uh, hello." Brenna returned once she found her voice again. She still wasn't sure if she had heard what came out of the girl's mouth correctly. And she seemed so non chalant about it. Like killing a person was an everyday occurrence for her.
"Dammit." He cursed under his breath. "27, we've talked about this. What's ok to talk about in front of others and what is NOT..."
The girl looked at him with a frustrated raised eyebrow. "I'm sorry, Draven." Her voice really DID sound sweet and adorable, which made the things that came out of it so much more shocking. "Should I hide the knife once I leave here? Or merely dispose of it in the dumpster outside along with the body?"
Draven just glared at her, sighing. Well. May as well say this shit in front of Brenna, since she'd heard the rest as well...
"Dispose of it. And for the love of GOD, stop going after these people! I don't care if they're the scum of the earth, 27... If you keep this up 'They' are going to find you again. And take you away from me. And allllll the hard work I've done to keep you away from them will be wasted. Do you WANT to be taken from me?"
The girl looked remorseful then, almost sullen. "No, Draven! Of course not!" She clung to him cutely, burying her face in his side. "I never want to lose you. Ever." Think someone had some hero-worship/crushing going on? Hm? Anyone?
"Then please. Calm down. Get back to 'home' and lay low for a while. I'll be back a little later." He said, looking at Brenna with a look that basically pleaded 'trust me there's an explanation for this'.
The young girl saw that look he gave Brenna, and, as if something finally clicked, she gave a POUT. And looked at Brenna. "Hurting him... would be a bad, BAD, idea." She said before glaring and stomping off.
As she left, Draven gave a mortified half-smile to Brenna and sighed. "God. I'm so sorry. 27 gets... protective of me, I guess." Running a hand through his hair, he took a long breath. "Walk with me? Someplace private? I'll... give you any answers you want."
Brenna listened silently to the exchange between the two with a multiple of thoughts rushing through her head. And when the girl subtly threatened her all Brenna could do was watch speechless as she trudged off.
"Private might be a good choice." The blond acknowledged with a slight nod. Talking where they presently were really wasn't a good idea as the conversation might be overheard. Brenna just hoped that no one was actually paying attention to them to have noticed the girl or overheard any content of the brief conversation between Draven and 27.
"Fuck..." Draven muttered as they walked into the alley behind the club, where, fittingly enough for them, it was raining again. "Ok. No more secrets. I'm gonna lay it on the line for you, Brenna, and if you want to run, I understand. All I ask is that you don't tell anyone about this." He sighed, leaning against the wall. "That... That was Project 27. The girl I mentioned to you. She was created by the US Government as a genetic experiment and raised from infancy to be a living weapon. They did... unspeakable things to her, Brenna. I couldn't leave her there. I broke her out. I'm trying to help make a real life for her... But I have no idea HOW. So she's very clingy and protective of me."
As the rain sprinkled down upon them both, Brenna watched him as Draven tried explaining things to her. "I'm not going anywhere, nor am I going to share with anyone what you just told me." A truth the blond would be holding to. "The girl is lucky to have you as her guardian and protector." God only knew what 27's life would be like if Draven hadn't taken her away from the unspeakable life she had been forced to live. Brenna couldn't even begin to imagine what that might have been like.
"She doesn't even have a name." He sighed. "Doesn't seem to WANT one. But I'm trying to help her become more... human. I'm just scared. I don't want her taken back."
"Don't try forcing one on her, then. You've kept her safe this long and you'll be able to continue to do just that." Brenna smiled softly looking up at Draven and laid a gentle hand to his cheek to try and reassure and comfort the man.
"She's dangerous, Brenna. Its... like trying to domesticate a shark. When he's in a frenzy, I'd go so far as to say I don't know of any type of supernatural being that could stop her." His voice was dire there... but he didn't move to escape her touch, either.
"Then we'll have to find a way to keep her from being the danger you know she can be to you or yourself." Brenna stated not realizing that she was involving herself in what could become a dangerous situation.
"You'd really help her? Us?" He asked, wondering why the hell Brenna was being so.. wonderful to him. "This could bring a whole shitstorm of trouble down on you."
Brenna looked to him with a "what?" look, but there was no way of her backing down from what she apparently said. Her words had committed the girl to helping the pair. "I' think I'm grown enough to withstand it." And besides, there was something she didn't think Draven knew. And that was who she was connected to. The Bale family was a force of their own to be reckoned with. While most still resided in L.A. those who had migrated to Las Vegas were slowly making their presence known.
"You're... truly a unique woman, Brenna." He said with a little grin that showed how sincerely impressed he was by her character. "You really do put everyone else before your own well-being, don't you?"
"Not everyone." The teen admitted. There were a select few, most of which were her family, that Brenna did that with. Those that she cared for, and Draven, though she hadn't known him all that long or well, happened to be within that select group.
"Then consider me proud that 27 and I are among the ones you do that with." He reached over, softly stroking her cheek with the pads of his fingers. "Proud... and truly honored."
A soft smile seemed to brighten her features when he touched her cheek. "You just have that way about you, Mister Leroux."
"What can I say? I'm a real charmer." And he was, actually. He'd learned to use his charm almost as a weapon, to get he and the young girl out of any trouble his powers COULDN'T. "You know... it occurs to me that the LAST time I saw you in the rain... I had to kiss you to cheer you up. Perhaps this time... I can do so just because we'd both like it?"
"I think I was the one that kissed you." Where some girls might blush with slight embarrassment at having given in to such a bold act, Brenna was feeling just the opposite. The teen wasn't embarrassed in the slightest for having kissed the man. "Perhaps this time you will kiss me because you want to." The blond caught and held his eyes then wanting to catch what might be reflected within them.
"Brenna... believe me when I say that last time? There was NO shortage of want on my part. But... just to make sure you believe me..." He cut himself off by reaching over, taking her by the belt and pulling her to him, this time giving her a kiss that simply oozed lust and want.
The teen moaned into the kiss that took her breath away. A kiss that sparked something within her. With a curling of her arms around the man's neck, Brenna leaned in to mold herself against the form of Draven Leroux.
This time, it was far more than a sweet, romantic smooch. This time, he clutched her to him greedily, his tongue eagerly slipping between her lips as his strong hands ran up and down her back.
Her hands curled within his hair when Brenna kissed him back just as hungrily. And when the need for air crept up, Brenna pulled back just long enough to catch her breath before her mouth buried itself in the curve of the man's neck. She inhaled him deeply as she kissed and nipped at the warm skin as Draven continued to hold her tight against himself.
Luckily for all involved... despite everything his hormones were screaming at him, Draven was a gentleman at heart. He finally pulled away a little, gasping for air. "Brenna... as... amazing as I suspect this would be if we continued... I care too much about you to let something like this be so... public and crass. So we'll wait. Until I can treat you like the lady you are."
That wasn't what Brenna was wanting to hear from him. Standing there with a breaths distance between them with her pulse racing and her heart thudding in her chest and her whole being consumed with desire for the man. Brenna was torn between going with her heart and listening to the logic spoken by Draven.
"What if I don't want to wait?" The teen whispered softly as fingers played idly with the buttons of his shirt as her eyes lowered to focus on his chest.
"If you truly don't WANT to wait..." He sighed, just never wanting to make the girl feel cheap or dirty, "Then I'm thinking we should at the very least find somewhere more... private. Because what I have in front of me... nobody else is deserving to see."
That garnered a new respect for him. Not that Brenna hadn't had any for Draven before. What he was saying just added to it. "We'll wait." She agreed looking up at him with a soft smile. It seemed to be of some importance to him. That they wait til he was able to treat her the way he felt she should be treated. Their first time should be special, and the alleyway behind the hotel wasn't exactly the place for that.
"Thank you. Don't worry... I plan on seeing you again. And in a more... official manner, next time." Ok, so maybe that was his lame-ass way of asking her on a date. Shut up. "And then? If anything happens... it'll be in a manner as classy as you deserve."
"Don't take too long, okay." Brenna told him with a light sigh. "The more time I spend with you the less I'm able to bare the lengths of time that we are apart." Brenna knew that she had promised to accept that she wouldn't see Draven all that often, but that was something that was getting harder and harder for Brenna to keep true to.
"I promise. Days, at most." As much as Brenna had been thinking about him... honestly, Draven had found himself more and more bogged down with thoughts of HER as well.
"Guess you should be getting back to 27." Not that Brenna was wanting Draven to leave. Just the opposite in fact, but she knew his first priority lie with the girl. And that was something she would never hold against him. Brenna just wasn't that selfish of a girl no matter how much she was wanting the man standing before her.
"Yeah." He agreed, but from his tone he clearly didn't WANT to. "But listen... next few days. I promise. I'm going to call, and you and I are going to go out somewhere."
"I'm going to be holding you to that promise, Mister Leroux." Brenna told him with a little bit of a playful smile. She now was able to look forward to seeing him again instead of just wishing for it to happen.
"I'd rather hold you to ME." He replied, pulling her in for one last, small kiss, before winking at her and backing away... somehow almost fading away into nothing.
Placing fingertips to the lips he had taken a last kiss from, Brenna watched Draven back away. It wasn't until he had faded into the darkness of the alleyway that the teen finally turned to head back on into the hotel.
