Bringing Out The Best In Each Other
Who: Cliff and Gypsie
Where: Random streets
When: Saturday, August 14th – evening
Cliff was out late again, remarkably, this time he wasn't out for blood. He'd had a craving for Mc. D's, of all things. Which was why he was walking home with a large coke in one hand, slurping his icy beverage. He'd had… a very uneventful summer, to be honest, and while he usually had the attention span of a gnat; he was actually looking forward to going back to school for his senior year. Although usually it was his music that kept him going. He hummed to himself as he idly walked along, willing to take all the time in the world to get home.
Gypise was out that night as well, and for reasons similar to Cliff's. It was movie night for her and Joey, and while Joey was supplying the movie from her vast library they were lacking big time on ice cream. Gypsie offered to splurge and go to the closest place on an ice cream run, which just so happened to be the McDonald's Cliff was heading home from. So it was in darkness and silence that the slayer started making her way from one point to the other.
The teenage boy briefly wondered if he had any episodes of Charmed taped. There was something about Alyssa Milano that just made him weak at the knees (he'd willingly admit that to anyone). He slurped the last of his drink and tossed it in the bin before practically walking into someone. "Oh, shit! Sorry!"
A hand went instinctively to the concealed stake when Gypsie heard a sudden noise not from in the close distance ahead of her, but rather having come from behind. As the wooden piece with the sharpened tip was slowly eased out of concealment the Slayer dared a glance back only to find herself a couple seconds later colliding into something solid and seemingly human. The stake was raised and poised when Gypsie snapped her head back around to find that what she had bumped into was the boy she had a chance run in with a couple weeks back.
"Why don't you watch where you're going." She snarled quickly making an attempt to get her wooden weapon hidden beneath her leather jacket once more before it drew any unwanted attention.
Cliff snarled. "There are two pairs of eyes here. You could have easily avoided me if you'd been paying attention." Clearly they were a match made in Heaven, huh? "Or maybe you intentionally bumped into me." He checked his pockets then to see if she'd stolen his wallet (What a charmer, huh?), but found it and shrugged: "It was possible."
"You can't be serious??" Gypsie looked at the kid completely stunned by the fact that he actually considered her to be a pick pocket and actually checked to see if anything of value was still on his person. "If I had wanted anything from you I'd be long gone by the time you realized you were missing anything of value. Not be standing here in front of you disagreeing about things."
"You're a woman! You have… wiles!" Clearly, this was how you spoke to someone you'd met (barely) twice. "I’m sorry if I offended you," he snarled, giving the impression that he really wasn't sorry, "but living here you get real wise, real fast and frankly, you've given me no reason to trust you."
"Aww. Did I bruise your ego last time we met," which technically was the first time they had ever laid eyes on each other, "by not being grateful for your interference." Gypsie hadn't been asking for his trust, then or now. She really didn't know the guy, and being truthful to herself she really wasn't wanting to. He was arrogant, quite assuming of other peoples intention and irritating like no one else the Slayer had ever met.
"Right. It's an attitude like that that's going to get you good and dead one day and you know what? No one will care." Ouch. "No one will notice. Because you have serious trust issues, girl. Or just plain issues," he snarled. This time? He was the one to walk off.
"If there was anyone left to care it might matter!" Gypsie's voice raising when she called after Cliff before turning to start walking in the opposite direction. The ice cream that had originally brought her out that night was forgotten as the Slayer worked on retracing her tracks back to the house as tears stung her eyes. What Cliff had said had actually cut her to the core. Aside from Joey there really was no one who would care or even notice if she disappeared off the face of the earth.
