Keeping her focus on the headband, Gabrielle selected a few more flowers to add to hers. “I used to dance, when I was little.” She hadn’t in so long, and it felt like a whole different lifetime ago when she had. Between everything that had happened in the world, and her school time amidst it all, perhaps that was true. “And we would go to ze festivals and art galleries. Ze food zere is much better than it is ‘ere.”
She could remember Bill from when she’d first met him, definitely more roguish and wild looking than the man she knew all these years later. He was the same person, obviously, but not so much with the earring and ponytail. The mention of Fred drew her attention, and she noticed how Lee’s smile didn’t quite go all the way, but she never knew what to say. She hadn’t know Fred like everyone else.
“Everyone with zere big families,” she commented, a wry smile turning at the corners of her mouth. “I am not sure ‘ow I would ‘ave liked zat. Do you get along with all your sisters?”
