[ jesse, hollis, open ] Characters: Jesse, Hollis, open. Setting: The boarding house in the Garden District owned by Hollis. Summary: Jesse is just coming home from hunting and partying.
It had been twenty years since Jesse had last taken a breath. Twenty whole years since the need to eat and drink to survive had become obsolete. As far as vampires were concerned, he was still practically an infant, but for someone who hadn't anticipated seeing out even his thirties, Jesse considered himself ancient. But being that he'd spent those twenty years looking just as young as ever, he always arrived at the same conclusion: he had it made.
Saturday nights were a particular favorite of his. He had wandered around the French Quarter for awhile before heading further into the city to a club. It amazed him that despite the tragedy the city had seen, its nightlife remained as active as ever. He danced for hours with the sweaty, shirtless masses, never once feeling the heat or a bead of sweat of his own. Of course, he never minded that part. It was nice to put his hands on someone's chest and watch their expression change as they said, always in the exact same tone, 'Your hands are cold'.
He had left two Marines in the bathroom of that club just that cold.
Those were always the most satisfying prey: the men who were too tough and strong to imagine being destroyed by anything, least of all a slim shouldered girly boy in leather pants. They were the most fun to seduce by far, and certainly the most fun to kill. If the killing was a struggle or stirred something in him that he didn't care for, he never expressed as much. For the most part, he was perfectly content to do what he had to to survive. Among those things, unfortunately, was a very strict curfew. No matter where he was or what he was doing, he made himself stop and head home at three o'clock exactly. In the event that something were to happen that would delay him on his way home, he couldn't exactly afford to be stuck outside.
So, around 3:30 in the morning, Jesse came slinking through the front doors of the boarding house, still licking his lips and smirking to himself. Looking at the clock, Jesse realized that he still had a few hours before sunrise and was thankful, he had no intention of sleeping any time soon. He turned on the light in the living room and moved toward one of the couches to start getting comfortable.
