Quinn drew his hand back and nodded at the name. He almost said ‘nice to meet you,’ but he wasn’t sure meeting him had been so nice for Neil. What do you say to a guy you nearly ran over? Why did he suddenly feel so stupid? He never felt stupid.
Quinn followed Neil to the register, thanked him for the basket as he tilted his head regarding the taller man. He still felt silly. Quinn glanced down at the green ball, smiling slightly as he was chided over the color.
“I know,” Quinn acknowledged, “for all I know my nephew would prefer orange or yellow. Maybe red.”
Quinn cut himself off before he could begin a nervous babble. He took the basket and gave Neil a smile, “I really am sorry for running into you, but it was nice to meet you. Thanks again for the basket.”
That said he turned to regard the rest of the store. What else did he need to get? He ran a hand through his hair nervously to prevent himself from turning around and trying to start a conversation with Neil. Why did he suddenly want to know this guy? He wasn’t friends, hadn’t been friends, with anyone who wasn’t involved with the ranger academy or family in a long time. He was going to go back to shopping, he…
He turned around, “Should I offer to make it up to you are you desperate to get rid of me?”
