Evita put her hand on Quinn's arm, giving it a tiny squeeze. "Sorry to hear that about your friend. What happened to her?"
She nodded automatically as he went through the list of people getting almost hurt, until he got that final name.
Erin.
She felt like she'd been punched in the stomach. She didn't hear much else that Quinn was saying, all she could hear was that name over and over in her ears. No- it couldn't be the same person! Erin was a common name. And it might not have been the same spelling. There's no way she could know that Erin. Her hands curled into fists, nails digging into her palms. She tried to keep her body from shaking, but it was so hard. She could barely even see what was in front of her. All she could see was her sister's body lying in a coffin. No- no! It had to be a different guy. It had to be.
Slowly she released a deep shuddering breath. Evita heard herself say, "Really? Lucky that Erin was there to help Ethan out. Sounds like quite an adventure." But her voice sounded strange even to her own ears. She felt blood trickle down her fingers as she broke through skin.
