Lindsey was waiting for Jake, shaking his head as the other Ranger approached him. "You dog," he said leisurely, grinning at the corner of his mouth. "I've been waiting here for what feels like hours. I been ready since we parted ways." And true to form, Lindsey hadn't even stopped by his apartment beforehand. He looked good already and he knew it, brushing back his lengthy hair as Jake finally came close enough to warrant shifting. "You finally ready to get outta here?"
“Hours! Hm, I’d better go faster in the future then.” He grinned as he walked to Lindsey, taking in the other man’s appearance. Jake raked his eyes slowly up and down Lindsey’s body, not taking care to hide it. “Well, where would you like to go? I guess I’m feeling nice enough to let you pick for now.” Jake held his arm out for Lindsey to take if he wanted, and started leading the way to his car. “I figured I’d drive unless you’d like to morph there. But that would mess up your hair.” Jake ran one of his hands over Lindsey’s hair. “Which is not an option, of course!”
Lindsey felt his heart skip a beat or two at the look in Jake's eyes, and for a brief second he imagined things that were far removed from dinner. Aw shit... "It's... uh, it's totally cool, man. Yeah... we can... we can go someplace..." Unable to resist the arm offered to him, Lindsey took it, linking their arms together easily enough. It felt good... no... better than good. Jake was amazing. How had someone so awesome gone by under his radar for so long? The hand running over his hair really did it though, eyes blinking closed as his stomach dropped. "No, of course not," he replied, the eagerness clear in every line in his face. He couldn't think of any place he'd rather be right now. "You wanna go grab a burger at the beach...?"
Jake liked feeling Lindsey beside him, the warmth and excitement he gave off. Jake gave Lindsey an award-winning smile and nodded. “Sounds good to me! I haven’t been out there in some time.” It felt odd to go alone, and it wasn’t a place he would just ask one person to go, unless it was a date. And of course, Jake eating cheeseburgers would make him ripe for jokes. Jake loved his health foods, but damnit, sometimes he did like to break away- not that he would tell anyone. When they reached the car, Jake unlocked the car with his clicker and opened Lindsey’s door. He paused with it open, but before letting Lindsey’s arm loose. “Lindsey. This...” he waved at the door, “Does this bother you? It’s habit for me, but I’m not trying to make you feel uncomfortable or anything.” Oh man, Jake thought, why did Granny have to push those ideas of chivalry so hard? He hoped Lindsey would understand.
Lindsey laughed a little and shrugged, climbing into Jake's car without so much as a simple hesitation. "I don't mind it, actually... kinda funny or whatever, but it's nice... you know... like someone cares enough to do it, I guess." Lindsey shrugged and buckled himself in, looking up at Jake with friendly and open eyes. "C'mon, now... let's get our asses to the beach, man. We gotta be there for the sunset, just to top it all off."
Jake laughed and shut the door. He walked around to the other side and got in. Once he’d started the car, he smiled. “I’m glad. I have...had times in the past, when either males or females have gotten mad that I do that. Granny taught me to always be chivalrous. Always be polite, always open doors.” Jake smiled as he locked the seatbelt and pulled out of his spot. It was an easy drive to the beach, and Jake continued talking as they drove. “Oh yeah, it should be beautiful.” He chuckled at Lindsey, “Calm down, we’ll get there! Are you sure your power isn’t speed?”
Lindsey watched Jake buckle himself in, admiring him for the way he'd been raised, the way he'd turned out. "There's nothing to be apologetic about, man... I love this shit." And he did. Lindsey ate up romance as though it were being spoon-fed to him. Attention is attention. "Yeah yeah... my power is lack of patience, I think." He snorted a laugh, grinning ear to ear as they drove toward the beach. It would be nice to just chill there, maybe dip their feet in, hang out... talk.
