Jake didn't even have a moment to form a response to Penny's half question, half statement. Only after she jumped away to scare poor Ansel did Jake frown as he thought of an answer. Lindsey...wasn't like Penny. Lindsey had never jumped on Jake, pounced on him. Sure, he stared, but Jake was used to that. Lindsey had never made overt sexual poses and references except for a few flirts when they'd first met.
But Jake just gave Penny a smile as she bounced off. Jake gave a nod to Nate and watched as Ansel got more frightened by the moment. That poor man- he never stood a chance. Jake's drink arrived and he tossed a few bills on the bar. "Anything that's left is yours." He said softly to the bartender. Ah Jake...A GREAT tipper- because he didn't know the math for tipping, he always just left a lot.
Stepping back from the bar, Jake slid to a stool just past the main of the group from the academy. He wasn't sure now if he actually wanted to be there. But he watched, content to sip his drink and watch his friends and professors for now.
