Ansel paused outside the door, bracing himself. He could stand in a lecture hall in front of many students, but put him in a potential social situation and he wanted nothing more than to run in the other direction. Still Ms. Lane said that she needed assistance with her phone and he’d been heading into town to do his grocery shopping so it only made sense to meet her and pick up the device.
Mentally he took a deep breath and entered, looking around until he spotted Ms. Lane. Uneasily he made his way over. Clarke was there. Ansel frowned, Clarke set his nerves on edge. He was more familiar with Hank, having helped him occasionally though he interacted with Mr. Gunn less frequently.
Perhaps he wouldn’t have to stay long. Perhaps they wouldn’t try to pull him in. He hesitated when Mr. Gunn yelled at another patron. Next time, he decided, he’d insist Ms. Lane bring her broken devices to him instead of him bring himself to them.
