WHO: Ana and Kasumi WHAT: Comfort and discovering interest in each other WHERE: Umi's dorm room WHEN: After the news report on the 18th
Ana headed over the Kasumi's dorm room the moment she'd hopped off of the computer. She was worried about her friend, hoping that the stress wouldn't take her down too much. She wasn't sure what advice she could offer, but surely her company would help...? She knocked on Umi's door and waited patiently, a few chocolate bars in one hand. They could eat it, talk, just hang out. That's what friends did for each other.
Kasumi was curled up in the corner of her bed, a blanket wrapped around her shoulder and a teddy bear hugged to her chest. Okay, so she knew she was twenty-four and that teddy bears were for kids, but she hadn't been able to leave it behind and now she was glad to have it. Sniffling slightly, she wiped tears hurriedly off of her face when she heard the knock. "Come in," she called, biting her lip and hoping it was Ana. She wasn't sure if she wanted to see anyone else right now.
Ana pushed the door open slowly, peeking in as she chewed anxiously on her bottom lip. "Kasumi?" she asked, peering around and finally noticing the other girl on her bed. "Hi there... you okay?" She closed the door behind her, moving across the room to sit down next to her friend. "I brought some chocolate..."
Kasumi managed a bit of a smile. "Hi. Chocolate sounds nice..." She took a deep breath, determined not to start crying again in front of her friend. "I guess I'm fine... Worried and stuff... but it could be worse right? Nobody's come to kick me out yet, at least..." She buried her face against the teddy bear for a moment, then slowly leaned over to rest her head on Ana's shoulder.
"Yeah..." Ana felt her heart break a little for Kasumi and when she leaned on her, Ana put an arm around her to try and comfort her. "I'm so sorry this happened... I don't know what we're going to do about it... I mean, the Academy won't just kick you out for this, right?" She didn't want to see the other girl vanish and was secretly worried that might happen.
"I don't know. I need to talk to someone, I think, but I don't want to right now... I need to... I don't know. Calm down first." She trembled a little bit, sighing. "I don't want to upset you, but thanks for, y'know, coming here and comforting me and everything, you know? I guess I should try to cheer up." She sighed and cuddled against her slightly when Ana put her arm around her.
"Yeah..." Ana frowned and rubbed her shoulder affectionately, trying to think of anything else helpful she could say. "Aww, sweetie... it's not your fault you're so upset about this. You don't have to fake being happy around me if you don't want to. I wanna see you smile because you wanna smile... not because you're trying to spare me my concern." She tilted her head to look Kasumi in the eye, a gentle smile there.
Ana's encouraging smile did make her feel better, and the tiniest answering smile creeped onto her face. "Okay," she said softly. "Thank you so much Ana... Just for... I don't know, coming here. I don't know what I would do if you weren't around..." She bit her lip, her smile becoming a little bit stronger. "At the moment at least... there's not really that much I can do about it. If I can get in touch with him I am so chewing him out, but until then... I just want to forget it."
"Yeah, exactly. And man, I'll help you chew him out if you want!" Ana giggled and squeezed Kasumi a little, enjoying herself and glad she could help cheer the other student up. She hated seeing her friends down. It was so discouraging. "Anyway, I'll always be here if you need to talk. Seriously, I mean... it's not like I have anything else going on aside from classes!" She laughed warmly, shrugging a little.
Kasumi nodded. "He's crazy if he thinks I'm coming home. Even if I can't stay here I'm not going back now." She sniffed slightly, pouting a bit and then bit her lip, putting her arm around Ana in a hug. "So... um. I need happy fun distractions." She laughed a little bit, shrugging. "Any ideas on what I could do?"
Ana hugged her back and rubbed her back soothingly. "If the Academy kicks you out, you can just sleep with me. My bed is small but we'll fit if we squeeze in real close!" She pulled Kasumi over, fake-wrestling with her while reaching down to tickle her sides.
Kasumi squealed and giggled, happening to be extremely ticklish. She squirmed, gasping and trying to speak at the same time. "W-w-wait, that's not fair!" She cried out, already laughing hard enough to bring tears to her eyes. "I can't share a bed with a tickler!" She giggled and tried hard to tickle Ana back.
Ana laughed harder and harder as they wrestled, squealing when fingers scraped over his skin as revenge. "Nooo! Talk about what's... what's not fair, that's not fair! I'm the tickler here and you'll do what I want! Submit!" She tried to grab for Kasumi's hands to make her stop, her hands weak from laughing.
Kasumi giggled and actually blushed, her mind definitely going somewhere else with that. "Submit?" She said with a raised eyebrow, trying to sound like she was joking. She was so busy giggling and blushing that she was incapable of wiggling her hands free when Ana grabbed at them and she soon found herself held down. That certainly didn't help the blush go away.
Ana stopped laughing as she held Kasumi down, not really realizing what was happening at first. She stopped giggling, breathing hard and staring down at her friend with a cheery grin, her weight on her hands and subsequently on Kasumi's wrists as well. "Yeah, you... you have to..." She blinked a few times suddenly, realizing the look in Kasumi's eyes and the really weird way her heart skipped a tiny bit. She swallowed, licking her lips and blinked anxiously, trying to decide what to do. "Do you submit then?" she asked, trying to keep up the joking nature of the situation.
Kasumi's blush intensified slightly and she laughed a little bit, nodding slightly. She opened her mouth to answer, but only a squeak came out at first and she had to swallow. Trying again, she managed to get out a simple, "uh huh... yeah..." She giggled again, looking up at Ana to see what the other girl would do next. "What happens now?" She asked with a smile.
Ana searched her brain, panicked by the weird tension between them. Their bodies were pressed together at the waist and the warmth was really nice... maybe too nice. Her heart pounded and she blinked at herself, wondering at how this had come about. She'd always thought Kasumi was cute, but... she hadn't seriously considered ever... "Umm..." And then without thinking about it Ana leaned down to press their mouths together in a nerve-filled kiss.
Kasumi's head spun when Ana leaned down to kiss her. Just as nervously, she returned it, feeling like every nerve in her body was on fire. Ohmygod, she thought, though that was about as much brain power as she could muster. Her wrists were still under the weight of Ana's hands, but she moved her fingers to slightly close around what she could reach of them. She shivered slightly, closing her eyes with a bit of a giddy smile.
Ana was shocked to find her kiss well received, her mind snapping from "holy shit back off" to "wait a second..." in no time. She shifted her weight, sliding her hands into Kasumi's palms as she felt the fingertips touching her hands, touching her fingers and slowly lacing them together. She broke the kiss to start it again, tilting her head slightly to one side. Kasumi's lips were so soft and she kept thinking about how soft they were, how easy to touch as the kiss continued to grow, her courage building up bit by bit. This didn't feel wrong at all... it just felt natural. They could do this. This was fine. This was better than fine...
Kasumi smiled as their fingers laced together, rubbing a thumb slightly across one of Ana's thumbs. She felt very content... The nervousness she'd felt a few minutes ago melting away slowly as they kissed. When finally she pulled back to take a breath, she licked her lips slightly. "Wow..." She whispered, biting her lips and smiling up at Ana. "I... You're good at that..." She chuckled a little, feeling like that was probably the silliest thing she could have said.
Ana started laughing because she had no idea what else to do in this situation. "I... really?" she asked, moving to take some of her weight off of the other girl. She dragged her teeth over her bottom lip, lingering near Kasumi, tempted by her as her blood pumped through her body too quickly. "You're... you're really good at it too..." She laughed again, not sure what else to say.
Kasumi nodded a little, beaming. "You are," She said again, shrugging. "I... dunno, I guess I don't really know what I'm doing. Just kind of... going along?" She laughed a little, watching Ana for a moment without doing anything. After a moment though, she reached up and tugged the blonde girl down beside her on the bed so that they were laying side-by-side. Then she cuddled next to her.
Ana smiled when she was tugged down, feeling light and giggly considering how well that had gone. She smiled and nuzzled in against Kasumi's shoulder, closing her eyes to lay there with her. "I'm glad I could make you feel better, Kasumi." She reached up to run a few fingers through her hair. "Kassie," she teased lightly.
