Terry opened and closed his mouth a few times. He was treading on what could be dangerous territory here. He didn't want Mandy thinking that the only reason he'd wanted to hang out with her is for the purpose of eventually dating.
"I don't think so. Not before," he slowly replied, choosing his words carefully. "I think we've just been enjoying each other's company as friends. But... this night was different, sort of. For me, anyway. I guess maybe you would still view it as just hanging out, but you see, I had something to tell you."
He paused for a second, knowing this was it. Now or never. "I like you, Mandy," he told her quietly. "As more than a friend. I have for quite a while."
