Who: Sally Anne and OPEN
What: Sally Anne doesn't know what's going on!
Where: Near her flat
When: Today!
Rating: PG?

It hadn't taken Sally long to realize she was not in the room she had fallen asleep in. The gentle pastels of her bedroom had been replaced by deeper tones. There were photos of people she did not recognize (although some she did) on the walls. The ceilings were lower. The windows were smaller. She wasn't in her house.

Slowly, Sally Anne crept out of bed, letting out a small squeak of surprise as she spotted her bed clothes in the mirror. The neglige was much more revealing than anything she would normally wear, and she had absolutely no idea how it had gotten on her. She couldn't stay in this room, she knew that much, but she couldn't leave in what she had on, either. Hesitantly, Sally picked out what she figured were the least expensive set of clothes from the closet and slipped them on. Being decently clothed had her feeling a little better, but her heart was still racing as she peeked out the door, spotting no one in the hallway. Tip-toeing, she quickly made her way down the corridor, and to the front door which she unlocked, grimacing slightly at the loud noise it made.

A quick glance over her shoulder told her no one was going to attack her, but she still ran for it as soon as she was out the door, bolting across the lawn and to the street. Quidditch had her in good enough shape, that she would have been able to go for a while... if she hadn't smashed into someone rounding the corner.

With the shriek she let out, you would have thought she was being kidnapped, but to be fair, for all Sally knew, she was.

Michael had set off early to work. Sometimes, he liked admiring Veritas in the dewy, cold mornings or getting a coffee before work. Wrapped in a long grey double-breasted trench coat and a thick wooly blue scarf, he made his way down the neighborhood.

He was expecting a lot of things that morning, a nice hot cup of espresso with a crumpet covered in raspberry jam, the pretty cashier who always gave him the extra jam, and work to be a steady hot mess.

What he did not expect was being run into and nearly knocked down. Acquiring his sense of balance, his hands raised and clamped gently onto the other person's shoulders to steady both them and himself.

When he got a clear view, he cracked a grin, "Whoa there, Sally Anne. Where's the rush, darling?"

Sally's first instinct was to fight off whoever had a hold of her, but the sound of a familiar voice had her relaxing slightly, though she still eyed him warily. Sally Anne had been through a wizarding war. She knew bad things could happen, even if she tried to forget.

"...Michael? Michael Corner?" She hadn't seen him in a while. They had been in the same year and house in school, but they had gone on to lead completely different lives. "Are we... where are we? What's going on?" Her eyes flitted about nervously. "How did we get here?"

Gazing at her with his bright blue eyes, he released her figure and tucked his hands back into the pockets of his coat, "Yeah, darling, the one and only," he confirmed, staring curiously amused.

"What do you mean? We're on the corner of Tadpole and Sparrow," he answered.

"You live down the street, I'm not far off," he answered, jabbing his thumb behind him as an indicator of distance. I don't know where you're running from but I'm on my way to wo-"

Suddenly Michael stopped in the midst of his sentence and this time stared, really stared at Sally Anne. She appeared scared, nervous and completely disoriented with her surroundings. Her questions began to register and fully run through his mind.

"Oh, Sally... did you just wake up?" he asked gently.

He seemed so calm. Had he known this was coming? Had she just been out of the loop? Had he been here for a while, and Sally was just one of the more recent to be taken? It couldn't be so bad if Michael seemed so happy, but then again, an Imperius curse could have done that. But with Voldemort gone... surely not? Surely there wouldn't be anyone with enough gall...

"Wait. I live here?!" Her eyes widened. Oh Merlin. Had something happened? Had she been in a coma?! Had she just woken up from it and Merlin only knew how much time had passed while she was unconscious?!

"I... Yes. In a strange room. Is it... Was that my house?"

Michael's enthusiasm at seeing Sally Anne had started to fade with the realization that she was now somebody else. Still her, but not her. He hadn't had to help those kind in a while, but with his experience the last few months at work had taught him, the girl in front of him had Displaced.

Precautions and stipulations coalesced with the concern for someone whose bakery he used to frequent and whose face he used to flirt openly with.

"Yes and no," he answered, "you're still Sally Anne, and that was Sally Anne's house, but you're not..this world's Sally Anne," he explained, though it all seemed rather unclear. She had already had a shock running through her system, but to not confront the problem would only cause more disruption later, "There's no easy way of telling you this, darling, but you're what we consider Displaced."

Now, had Sally Anne been someone less like herself, she might have gawked and asked Michael if he was smoking pixie dust, but being one of the most gullible people alive, Sally's Ravenclaw brain was trying to pick apart the logic of that statement and what it meant rather than attempting to disprove it.

It wasn't working very well.

"I don't understand," she said softly. "What do you mean a different world? Am I just... Oh, Merlin, am I a doppleganger?" Because judging from the current situation, that would make her the evil twin!

Heaving a soft sigh, Michael shook his head as he tried to put it together a tad clearer, "We haven't figured out how or why or if that's really what is going on, but most people who wake up in a home they don't recognize though credited to their name, or feeling lost with their usual surroundings have been coming in small bursts. Most resemble the person who they say they are of this world, but they have entirely different memories, partial histories-" he tried.

"I'm on my way to the local hospital right now. If you came with, there's counselors to talk to that could ease you into this situation better than I."

"But that's just crazy," she breathed. "What about where I'm from?" Her eyes widened. "What about the Kestrels?!" Sure, they had a back-up keeper, but they rarely played him. And the team manager was going to murder her. It was one thing to miss one practice, but who knew how long she'd be here. Or- she felt her chest tightening at the thought- if she would ever be able to get back.

"We can go back, can't we?" she asked, big doe eyes staring up at him. "There's a way to get back, isn't there?"

Michael wrinkled his brow confused, "What about the Kestrels? They're doing a bit meager against the Magpies," he answered offhandedly.

"Oh! You mean..you were apart of the team, perhaps?" he said, alarmed, not sure how to tell her that the Sally Anne here was just a baker. A rather swell one, though.

"Um, suffice to say..there hasn't been anything said about returning..." he trailed, "but, you're in a bit of a shock right now, and it's chilly. Let's get you some place warm, all right?"

Sally Anne's lips parted in shock as what was left of her color seemed to drain out of her face. "I'm... not a part of the team here?" Playing quidditch had very nearly taken over Sally Anne's life for the past few years. With the practices, matches, public appearances, endorsements, she'd spent most of her time being a quidditch player. That was what she was good at. "What do I do?"

No quidditch. No going back. "Yeah, okay," she answered weakly. "I, erm, I don't know where anything is, though. Help me? Please?"

"Well, you're a baker," he clarified, "you bake. You have your own place. It's splendid, really," he added, trying to comfort her, even though it was a loss.

The only other Displaced person Michael had been close to thus far, had been Parvati. And it was painful. The Parvati that was here now was fun and flirty and much more like able to Michael now, but he didn't know what he would do if someone else he knew Displaced. Sally Anne looked sickened and he had just seen her yesterday morning, all smiles and teasing.

"Of course, Sanne," he said, calling her by his endearing nickname. He offered her the crook of his arm for her to take, "I'll take you to the hospital. I promise you, they'll be really good to you and help you as much as they can. And then when you're all done I can ask to leave early and show you around. You're in Veritas, by the way. It's a quaint little country town north of Reigate."

"Oh. A baker." Sally Anne was okay at baking. She'd made cookies and cakes a few times for parties and the like, but to be good enough to run her own shop? She felt a new wave of panic creeping up, but forced it down as she tried to maintain some semblance of composure.

For some reason, hearing the nickname she had picked up in school made her feel a bit better, and Sally Anne smiled weakly at him as she slid her arm through his. "Michael, you don't have to do that," she assured him. Just because she'd all but tackled him in her panic didn't mean he was responsible for her now.

Michael could practically feel the disappointment in her voice, let alone hear it when she answered. He felt terrible. How must it feel to be surrounded by people you recognize but don't really know?

He smiled his trademark smile. Sure, Michael liked the whole damsels in distress and coming to the rescue, but he had also liked Sally Anne, so there was really no persecuting obligation, "I'd love to, darling. Whatever helps."

The brunette began pointing out homes and the people who lived there, the small shops peeking out from around one of the street corners and such. Anything to help or distract until the reached the hospital.

"Down this end is The Tea House, nothing compared to Madam Puddifoot's decor, of course, but rather quaint.."

Considering the fact that she had just woken up in an alternate universe, Sally Anne was beginning to feel remarkably better as she made her way down the lane toward what she assumed was the hospital. It was so bizarre, having Michael point out all the places she was supposed to remember, things that should have been familiar, but weren't.

"This town is really sweet," she told him with a small smile. "It's so different from where I came from." A pause. "You're different from where I came from." Before he could get offended, she quickly added, "Not in a bad way,of course, just different."

Hoping that somehow his rambling of the town was helping, he listened to Sally Anne talk about where she came from.

"I'm sure you'll get used to it. It'll definitely help with some recuperation time after going through what you are.."

"How am I different?" he asked curiously. They were rounding up the corner to the hospital. Darn. For once, Michael wished he didn't have to work today.

"Yes, I think you might be right about that," she agreed, looking curiously at the people walking into buildings, people she recognized but whom she probably knew nothing about anymore.

"Oh, well, you're a bit more friendly, I think." She smiled up at him as they neared the hospital.

"Friendlier, huh?" Michael echoed. He couldn't imagine himself being cruel at all. Temperamental, maybe.

Guiding her inside the bustling but still slow for a hospital, he called out to a nearby blonde mediwitch.

"Morning Nurse Robard," he greeted with one of his trademark charming smiles. The blonde turned to him, her green eyes shining.

"Morning, Michael."

"I have a uh, a Displaced case here," he said gesturing to Sally Anne, "could you get her in for a screening and a counseling talk? She's one of my friends," he said to her before giving Sally Anne a gentle smile.

Sally Anne wasn't sure how she felt about being considered a case, but she was sure Michael hadn't meant anything by it. As the nurse ushered her forward, Sally turned back to Michael briefly. "Um, thank you." Her smile turned sheepish. "I'm still not entirely sure what's going on, but you've really helped a lot, so." She tucked her hair behind her ear and took a step backwards toward the nurse. "Don't be a stranger, okay?"
