"Thank you," George said, flashing her a small smile as she sat down beside him. He closed his eyes as she began to wipe at his face, trying not to enjoy the feeling of her hand on his chin too much. It was a pretty tough battle.
"I know you don't like hearing this, but if you want you can just pretend it's the concussion and forget I ever said anything. But I'm glad you're all right, and I'm grateful to you for taking such good care of me like this. You were pretty damn calm and collected through all of that, and I'm impressed. You're one hell of a woman, Daphne."
