"Parvati... I'm sorry," George frowned, a rare expression of genuine remorse crossing his features. "I really am. I never meant to hurt your feelings, although I know I did. I only hope you can forgive me."
He paused for a moment, thinking. Should he mention the article? No, that wouldn't be very polite. And she was already close enough to crying as it was.
"But you don't have to be alone," he protested, taking her hands and gently leading her over to the couch. He sank down onto it, then pulled her down beside him. "I can't even start to imagine what you're going through, being displaced to somewhere that nothing is the way you think it should be and no one really knows you. But it's not completely that way anymore, is it? There are plenty of people here who still care about you, and would help you any way they could."
