Grantaire wakes up first. But he is used to being up at dawn. Or not sleeping. So the fact that they have slept and that he has been comfortable means that he is able to wake and go to work early. He thinks of leaving a note for Eponine, but he isn't entirely sure that she can read, and he doesn't want to insult her. But he's said that he's going to work, and he's leaving her alone in his flat. |
