Lisa was excited that her daughter Madeline would be starting Hogwarts this year. She fondly remembered her years at Hogwarts and secretly hoped her daughter would be sorted into Ravenclaw like she once was. Madeline was smart enough for Ravenclaw and would fit in nicely, if Lisa knew her daughter well enough. She knew that Seamus was rooting for Gryffindor, but they would see in September where their daughter ended up which she believed she did. Lisa told Madeline to write to them once she knew what house she was sorted into so their curiosity would be satiated. That morning they heading to Diagon Alley to buy some of Madeline’s books. “I hope you end up liking Charms class as much as I did. Your father wasn’t as fond of that subject since things ended up blowing up in his face,” Lisa informed her daughter. Madeline laughed and said, “I hope that doesn’t end up happening to me. I think I’d die of embarrassment.” Lisa laughed. “I have faith in you, love.” She kissed her daughter on the forehead after saying this causing Madeline to smile, but the smile was also in part amusement over her father’s past troubles with magic.
“Seamus! Lynne! Come on! We’re going to miss the sales,” Lisa called out. Lynne was probably either in her bedroom or getting ready in the bathroom. She remembered when she cared so much about her appearance. There was a point in her life when she couldn’t stand the idea of leaving the house without looking gorgeous. Seamus was another story. She had no idea what he was doing that would be keeping him so long. Lisa made a face. “Don’t worry mom. I’m sure they’ll get here soon. Besides the sales are happening all day,” Madeline reassured her. “I know. I just like being the first to arrive places. I mean, it’s bad enough I agreed to go shopping this late in the day. I like doing the majority of my shopping before noon. That way I can enjoy a nice lunch before heading home,” Lisa explained. Madeline shrugged. Lisa patted her daughter on the head causing Madeline to yelp in protest. “Oops. Sorry. I forget you had finished brushing it,” she said. Madeline glared at her mother and said, “Now I have to brush it again.”
Madeline ran to her room before Lisa could stop her. Moments later Lisa was joined by Madeline, Lynne and Seamus. “It’s about time. Is everyone ready?” Every nodded so they headed out. Soon they were looking at the different window displays of the various shops at Diagon Alley. Madeline was admiring dress robes and Lisa simply shook her head. “We already bought you your robes. We’re here for your books young lady. Nothing else,” Lisa told Madeline sternly. Madeline frowned and said, “Can I get an owl at least?” This question was directed at her father because she knew there was no point in asking her mother for a pet. Lisa pretended to not hear the question as she was now entering Flourish and Blotts.
