She nodded emphatically when Mary said that her drawings were her name. That was how Simon had explained it to her. A was for Arlington. Maybe that had been a mistake, but that's how it had come to have meaning for her. She wasn't stupid but she did have certain learning disabilities and that seemed to be a part of her issue with communication. Illiteracy. She nodded at Simon and started to draw. Snake, igloo, mouse, orange, nose. Simon. Mary. that would need spelling for her.
The rooms she didn't care how they were arranged. She gave both keys to Simon and let him take care of it, she knew he'd get it straightened out. He was good like that. One had been her payment for delivering the message to Colin, so that's the one she's sleeping in. Simon or Mary can sleep in her room with her, or they could both sleep in the other room together.
"I can sleep on the floor in a room," Mary said, feeling like she was putting them out a bit, complicating whatever arrangement they had. Her desire to sleep indoors and amongst people she knew far outweighed her guilt, however, "I've been sleeping in rubble for weeks, so a floor will be like a down mattress."
She wrote out 'Mary' as she spoke, pointing to each letter in turn and speaking it aloud. It was a little... strange, that Arlington didn't know how to read. She'd been able to read from a frighteningly young age like everyone else in her vault, so the concept of illiteracy was somewhat alien to her. Mary almost smirked - no noses in her name, looked like.
"Hmmm." Simon was now looking at both keys thoughtfully, though all options of using two rooms weren't sitting particularly well with him. All the scenarios meant leaving one or both girls on their own. Absolutely not, especially after the short period where Mary was showing off her vault suit. Who knew who'd been keeping tabs?
"Well, we could always use just one room, whichever one has the bigger bed. You guys can use that, I'll take the mattress out of the other room, toss it onto the floor and sleep there." Mattresses weren't heavy, and technically they'd be getting their share of both rooms while maintaining comfort. "Unless you're uncomfortable with that." He said the latter to Mary, figuring Arlington wouldn't have much of an issue after using him for a pillow the past few nights.
She reached for the key that Ceara had purchased and held it up again then when she had both Simon's and Mary's attention she held up two fingers. Two beds. So if he pulled the bed from the other room in there, they could all have a bed. Or she'd make a nest in the corner and the two of them could have a bed. Once she had alerted the two others that there were a total of three beds to be had, she went back to staring at the paper.
Now that she had heard Mary's spelling she could draw it for her. Mouse, stick girl with hair more like Mary's than Arlington's, radscorpion, furry brahmin.
"Really, the floor is fine," Mary persisted. She would at least not shiest someone out of a proper bed. Really, with how little she usually slept, a bed would be wasted on her. When Arlington informed them, albeit silently, of the bed situation, she relaxed slightly, "Oh, one of the rooms has two beds? I'll... well I don't mind taking the single one. I don't want to intrude."
She'd been sleeping by herself for awhile now, and while she'd really rather not separate herself from her new comrades, she didn't want to... interrupt anything. Or hear anything. She was a light sleeper.
Just talking about sleep split her face in a yawn, one she covered with both hands. Looking at her hands she remembered how filthy they were, the nails black, but she couldn't really bring herself to fret over it much. She didn't have one cap, let alone twenty, and she didn't think she'd be able to handle it if the prostitute tried to hustle her.
